cz 858 Lower Handguard Removal - How Do I?

Trying to replace the lower "beaver barf" handguard with black polymer version. What is the best way of removing the rivet holding on the lower handguard such that it can be reused with the new handguard.

It's not a rivet, it's a pin.
Just drift it out.

A bit off topic here but there is no way i can bend the upper handguard tabs without damaging the wood barf.

No. You may need to give it a whack downwards at the receiver end to rotate it out. They can fit in fairly snug.

Judicial use of the palm side of the screwdriver resulted in said handguard popping off.
