CZ 858 melted NEED HELP PICS INCLUDED!

1. the grooves in the bolt is normal.

2. that doesnt look like a crack to me, check the side of the bolt and see if the so-call crack continues.

3. the ejector is way too loose , there isnt enuff metal holding it in place , it will eventually fall off , it might even damage the mag and ammo.

You need to restake your ejector, very easy. Just take a center punch and light hammer, and position the ejector to the very back of its slot. Center the tip of your punch just off its staking cutout (little radius cut out). One good wack on the center punch will set the extractor firmly and stake it.

The mark on your bolt appears to be a simple tool mark. No worries there. And my oh my, build quality is quite poor on these, that's a rough and shoddy gun inside. Owned several, but never took them apart just shot them as cheap surplus burners, seeing inside was a wake up call.

I can take a look at if for you maybe this weekend.

Sean that would be great. I am actually heading to sedans corner on Saturday I'll message you when I get home.

I would like to do what your saying but it seem like there is metal missing and I have this feeling I might have to weld on some. I am honestly hoping I wont have to.

by center punch tool you mean this right?

Step 1: push the ejector rearward (toward trigger)

Step 2: Get a real punch, a solid piece of steel, not like the one you pictured. Get a big hammer and drive the punch into the circled area. This will push metal into the notch in the ejector and lock it into place.

Easy peasy.

Thanks Steve I'll look into it tonight hopefully crappytire is open so I can go get another punch.

Looks more like a scrape. Are you sure it's a crack?

I took another look and used some food coloring to see if it was a tool mark or an actual crack. It seem to just be a mark.

who said its ####? I think the czech government should be disbursing payments to all cz/vz owners in canada for the extensive field research and modifications we have done with their rifle... these things are bound to come up and it looks like the only problem here is with the extractor.

reliablity?

Whoa There big shooter!

Before we start talking about Cz/Vz reliability let me say that I have around 7500 rounds through my Vz and around the same through my Cz.
I have had NO problems with this fighting/battle rifle.
Yes I tabbed my carrier and went with the ambi charger as well as dremmeled off that ridiculous bent trigger guard tab.
I added some after market furniture as well.
But the machine, the core, the engine...Is fantastic!
I trained for a very VERY long time with an AR, and the wedges, pins, springs, tweaking and aftermarket crap that is needed on top of the thing being higher maintenance than a Persian Princess Girl Friend makes them Bad, Just Bad.
Say what you will, but the vermant 223 round is ineffective and the rifle is as well. Band aids on top of band aids.
The Vz/Cz is a great choice if you live in Canada.
I do wish that someone would start manufacturing these rifles here with some of the aftermarket stuff added as stock.
One revision I would make is The Cz/Vz Rifle should have a paddle selector/safety like the AK.
My 2 cents.

Getting back on topic here, well I didn't have the right punch but I did manage to snugg it up a bit the extractor that is.

I'll post some more pictures tomorrow night after I am done with it all.

Did you hit it with a hammer? If so, all you need to do now is submit proof that you have also used a Dremel on your VZ (or VZ accessories) and I'll send out your official "VZ-58 Type Firearm Gunsmithing Expert" certificate!:)
