A close up showing the new extended base, this allows for a very secure mounting of telescopic sights. Featured here is the Hi-Lux CMR1424. This is a close medium range scope with a 1 to 4 x magnification.

Elevation and windage turrets feature positive clicks with ½ MOA values.

Illumination switch, the reticle center dot and inverted “horse-shoe” can be illuminated for low light conditions. This has the added advantage that with the magnification set on 1 (no magnification) and the reticle illuminated you have an excellent set up for close range rapid target acquisition

how about any fastfires 2's, or bushnell trs25's????

Red Dot sights are better mounted on the top handguard, it is cheaper and been further away from your eye you will have faster target aquisition. The rail we are showing here allows the mounting of a short scope at the rear, this suits us old timers who grew up with telescopic sights. Having said that the new generation of "Short Dot" scopes do a great job at CQB ranges when set on 1X and illuminated, with the additional advantage of the higher magnification for longer ranges.

I got to fondle with this rifle today. Needless to say it is the best optics setup I've seen for the 858.
The High-Lux optics look great too. In a room full of S&B it looked great. At first I thought it was a S&B when I was looking through the glass.

The only thing that concerns me with this setup is the length of the optic and the necessary increase in the LOP to get the right eye relief.

How many clicks out is that stock? All the way?

I was thinking the same thing...

I'm a smaller framed guy so this looks like it would be uncomfortable. I know the Nightforce NXS 1-4x24 is a couple inches shorter but heck that's an expensive alternative!

I've shot mine with it nearly all the way in when wearing gear. I don't think my C-more comes quite that far back though, but close.
