cz 858 problem

Just got the gun and took it out to blast some targets and after 15 rounds encountered a problem.

Put in a new magazine, pulled the bolt back and released it, but it got stuck a quarter of the way down. After fiddling with it I got it to close, pulled the trigger and nothing. Took out the mag and ejected the shell and the bolt still will not close and seems to catch on something.

Any help would be appreciated.

Strip her down and take a look. I wouldn't force things unless you've got a lot of spare parts on hand though!

P.S. Is this gun off the EE or from a dealer?

Im guessing all the problems are happening because that pin was working its way out .. its held in by a small pivot clip inside the receiver ... if your not mechanically confident enough call wolverine supply they will hep you out ..

dont slide rds into the chamber. Pull it back and let it go. When the safety is off, the bolt will catch halfway if you try closing it slowly by hand, forcing it forward past that point will drop the striker with it, causing a light strike. You couldnt cycle the action by hand anywhere near as violently as the gas system, so pull it back and let it drop to chamber a rd.

Thanks

I didn't slide any rounds into the chamber and I don't close it by hand. I pull it back and let it go.

I pull it back and let it go and it stops.

Ok so I took the dust cover off and removed the bolt and these were laying loose in there behind the trigger

I see where they are suppose to go, but not sure how they are suppose to be placed in there.

Got it put back together. Seems to be functioning ok now. After a few rackings however, that pin came loose again.

Got it figured out by watching this video incase this problem occurs to others.

Looks like I need a shim. Very dissapointed.

Edit: Also found the toggle was not in the locked position. That would most definitely account for the sheer pin coming loose. Must not have been correctly reassembled after being coated. Disappointing that the gun didn't come assembled correctly but as long a it didn't do any damage was a great way to learn the gun.

Here is the pin lock that was part of the issue, you need to check this when reassembling and periodically. It can lock up you gun. This is the position it needs to be in:

This is the position you don't want it in:

You can see with the pivot lock in this position the upper ear will catch on the striker preventing it from going forward and giving you a dead trigger. It will also prevent you from disassembling it because of this:

With the striker locked back the spring guide is inside the striker and will not allow you to raise the dust cover enough to get it off.

Just something to watch out for, it has happened to at least one board member.

thats correct, the only was a pin would fall out of a cz858 is the locking plate wasnt in the lock position .

Well . . . . just took it out to test it. Shot a magazine perfectly, then every other shot was pretty much a dead trigger. Never happened when I racked it, only after firing a shot. After ejecting the shell after a dead trigger I noticed a small dint in the primer.

Ideas? Starting to get really frustrated now!!

So you shoot it and it cycles, it loads a new round into the chamber and you have dead trigger? When you cycle the bolt the new round has a dented primer?

The one that does fire and I cycle out doesn't. But I guess thats just from getting cycled into the barrel.

When I rack the gun, it will fire a bullet. When it cycles one after a shot I get a dead trigger.

Sounds like for some reason the sear is not catching the striker on the second round.

This is how it should look, the red box is the sear, or one of the parts that fell out before:

Are you sure you got the parts back in there right?

Thanks! You know what! I think I had it with the tab down somehow. Well I know it is in correctly for sure now so I will give it a test on my next day off. That tab on the sheer does look damaged though and appeared that way from the first time I took it out. The top lip of that tab does not go straight across. It goes on a slight angle with the edge peeled over.

Will this cause problems?

Again, thanks so much for your help! I really appreciate it!
