I like the idea of an unrestricted CZ 858 but also like the idea of having a chrome-lined barrel (since corrosive mil-surp ammo is cheaper than non-corrosive, from what I've seen). If one were to purchase an unrestricted CZ858:
1) Is it difficult to swap in the shorter chrome-lined barrel? Can one even buy a shorter chrome-lined barrel separately?
2) If one were to swap to a shorter barrel at home, what's the legal status for transport to a gun range? Technically it's registered as unrestricted but it's effectively restricted. I have no problem with the opaque case for transport but one wouldn't have an authorization-to-transport!
3) Does having a chrome-lined barrel really matter from a total maintenance perspective? If one were shooting corrosive ammo, the residue would get on all the internals, right? I would think that every part needs to get rinsed with water to dissolve the salts and prevent corrosion. Is this thinking correct?
I recognize that a chrome-lined barrel is not necessary with corrosive ammo if the rifle is regularly maintained but sometimes I may not get a chance to clean my guns until a day or two after shooting at the range. Not sure if that delay is long enough for corrosion to form.
