Sorry no pics yet.
I have this CZ858 and it has about 25% of the paint chipped off of the barrel and some blistering (more chips to come).

What causes this?
Is this normal?

Solution?
do i just oil lots?
Or should it be repainted?

I recall someone saying they're parkerized under the exterior paint but I'm not sure. Neither of mine have had any chips or bubbles.

It's just cosmetic but you could repaint or have it refinished.

no dont paint it i think there is a fella on here that is willing to pay extra for "aged" firearms can't remember who though

I've read about them being parkerized under the cheap paint, too. Several things cause the paint to chip off, shooting 20 mags out of it non stop, dropping it, or factory direct errors in the paint.

IMO, leave it. It doesn't hurt the function of the gun.

Maybe 20 regular-capacity mags might cause it to blister, but with 5 rounders it won't. That paint is really durable. I haven't managed to chip any paint and I'm not gentle with my CZs.

I'm with justins1877, just leave it. If you're concerned with it's appearance, Krylon is cheap and you can put a snazzy camo job on it.;)

You'd be surprised, Stevo. Shooting that many mags out of it not only caused my paint to chip off, it melted my 3rd party 1st gen upper handgaurd.

That's completely opposite to my experience with shooting that much, that fast. I haven't seen any chipping or blistering. The melted plastic doesn't surprise me, though.
