Well I put a Scout mount on my rifle and decided I didn't like it and decided to take it off. I was having a hell of a time getting the pin out and being ham fisted the whole thing let loose including the spring that you have to push down on to get the sight off.

The spring metal does not appear to be broken but no matter how I orient it, the sight flops around.

If that spring metal flew out is it broken? If so how do I fix it? Anyone else have that issue?

All this on top of my frustration at not being able to get my red dot on paper today. arrrr.

1 end there is usually a nipple with a dent in it. That faces the end of the barrel. Now inside were this leaf spring sits there should be a grove. Slide the leaf in said grove. Now with a punch or a long finishing nail press down in the dent to level out the spring and slide in the rear sight. You will hear a "click" when it's in the proper position.
A side note;
Some times these rear sight leaf springs have this nipple and dent at both ends so it doesn't matter witch way you slide it in.
