Before the flaming begins; I have done a TON of research on the 858s and the various sights and mounting systems.
That said alot of the info and FAQs are a bit dated now.
Question for the 858 owners out there:

What is considered one of the best mounting option now - in terms of holding zero and also not impacting ability to strip the firearm?
I have a vortex red dot I would like to mount if I buy an 858.

I believe the BCS system will work fine - anything else I should consider?
I dont plan on tricking it out with a ton of gear so I dont necessarily need the BCS system.

Thanks

I use a TRS-25 with no riser or nothing, works fine. Heard you can get a QD mount for it. Cost effective and it works. I've owned 3 858's one tact'd out w/ FAB gear for myself and 2 plain jane for my boys to plink away with. With that being said I'm more of an iron sight's fan with that 858 but that's personal preference. Good luck!

i've got a CZ858 with Fab Defense handguards (upper & lower), i've just acquired a Vortex Strikefire that i intend to mount on the upper (obviously), i did a ton of research as well and in another forum that setup was highly praised for 7.62 plinking. not an expensive setup but it works.

Yup, redrifles this is!

Me, I am very interested in the more solid railed dust cover mounts. Hard to find a forward rail for my baby:

The NEA front rail cover I find is great. Low enough to co-witness with the right optic, still easy to field strip, and little to no problems with return to zero.

My CZ with the NEA mount and Burris FastFireII.

The scout mount works, I have it on my 7.5", but requires modification to the nea mount, in order the free the tiny piston for cleaning. The side mount would work as well, I have it on my 11.8", but I prefer the scout on such a small rifle, like the 7.5", it keeps it tidy.

Where did you get the flashlight mount?

I'm hoping to get one of the dust cover mounts fairly soon and be able to mount a 2-7 Leupold scope that I have waiting for it. Other option that I have seen is the side mounted rail, but imho that just looks ugly ;)

Thanks everyone!
I am all over the setup Major Sights has going on above.
I like the idea of being able to co-witness.

Like I said it only co-witness's with some red dots. The one I have there, only co-witness's when the irons are set at 600m and above. Which is ok for that and extreme close range, I just like my red dot on the CZ that is SMALL. I had a Strike fire on before with the AR mount it was ok, and I could see my irons (no mater what they were set at) through the hole in the mount too, but the look just left a fowl taste in my mouth.

If I want it simple and plain. I would just get a mount that replaces my rear sight and be done with it. As we all know after 300 meters the x39 round is quite useless. So with a red dot and that reflex sight will sure live up to the K.I.S.S. montra. Plus honestly if you purchase a good red dot there is no need for irn sights and if your plainning on stopping the zombie invasion with it then you run into another problem on a limited budget and that is NcStar made zombies :p
P.S. Nice cheek weld on the above photo ;)

The scout mount would be ideal for the PDW, but if I get another 7.62 NR rifle I'd like to put a powered scope and galil stock on it. Hence the hunt for a railed dust cover.

The flashlight mount is a TacStar shotgun light mount that I've tweaked a little bit. I was a little worried about it, but its held up fine so far!

Good info.
Did you mount the Strikefire with the AR mount because that's all you had, or because the lower mount wouldn't work?
I have the strike fire with both the AR higher mount and the normal low one.

If I need to get the Burris I'm OK with that... the Fastfire III is calling out to me.
I am right handed and left eye dominant, so a red dot is basically a must for me.
Thanks

There is a railed dustcover that will fit any variant of the CZ line of rifles. I have one and it works flawlessly. A bit expensive but damn well worth every single penny for it. Hold zero perfectly and you can mount a variety of different red dots with no problems. I would post a pic of it on one of my rifles but am currently on my phone.

The Dust Cover scope mounts same as Zahal sales for $295 are already in Canada, they cleared customs and I will start selling them next week Price will be way better the Zahal

I asked the bonesteel guy too! He's had a ton of Canadians ask him I guess.

And yes . . . I think more Zahal is probably in my future . . . nice to see some of that high end czech-made stuff being made available
