I took my VZ out today for the first time and had several extraction failures.
The first one occurred on the last round in the mag, the round fired, the bolt locked back, but the fired case stayed in the chamber. I was easily able to pull it out with my fingernail.
The second would best be described as a failure to extract completely. The round fired, the bolt came back, it stripped another round off the mag, but the fired round did not clear the ejection port - the bolt slammed shut on it and crushed the case mouth. The round that was stripped off the mag was intact and lined up to chamber properly from what I could tell.
The third occurrence was almost the exact opposite - like the first occurrence the round simply was not extracted. Unlike the first, there was more rounds in the mag - the bolt stripped the next round off the mag and since there was already a round with the case head sticking out of the chamber, the bullet slammed against the inside of the action instead of being fed up into the chamber. The round was a write-off, the bullet had been pushed into the case, but the offending case was again easily removed with my fingernail.
The fourth time was the same as the first, as I was single-loading the mags for diagnostic purposes.
And that was in only 30 rounds. The other rounds all ejected slightly forward and slightly to the right. Ammo used was Winchester white box 55 grain FMJ.
I'm going to take a few pictures of the chamber and bolt face for you guys but everything looks pretty good to be honest. Next steps are a tear down and full cleaning and brass check to see if there any weird burrs or anything evident.
