Wait wait... I didn't sift through the pages of this thread but... The CZ858's here, in question, are prohibited because of .... engravings? Like.... Could it not just be argued that they are exactly the same as the ones that are already in the country, simply with different furniture? Mechanically, the same rifle, which is already non-res.

All the details are in the OP

Yea, I saw the update, but I am guessing I am just not understanding the technical jargon of the RCMP letter.... why are these suddenyl prohibited? They are CZ858's after all, no? Those are non-restricted (Even after the prohib scare).

EDIT: OK, so I am right in my thinking, "There never was any intent on the part of Wolverine Supplies to offer for sale anything other than a fully approved CZ 858 Tactical – 2P, no special model, just the standard rifle with the addition of a deluxe wood furniture kit and a Greek motive on the bolt carrier. Even the RCMP FRT print out states that there are variations of this rifle with different stocks. Indeed in the past we sold several hundred “Canadian Stocks” these were all checkered and had the Maple leaf. This firearm is simply the same model as we have imported before and it is the CZ858 Tactical 2P as already identified in the FRT as non restricted."

Therefore, I don't get what game the RCMP is playing... must be some liberal #### again, isn't it?

No Liberal, just bull####.

This smells as if the RCMP is looking for some payback after the spanking they took publicly over their attempt to grab all of our 858s. The idea that a different engraving constitutes an entirely different firearm is patently absurd.

In the current political climate I'm sure that they will be viewed as "Experts that have prohibited a dangerous assault-rifle that is easily converted to fully automatic fire. This could have been a huge danger to officer and public safety. The day has been saved"

The CZ858 is converted from full-auto parts, and thus is prohibited by default.
There are four specific models of CZ858 that are explicitly listed as not being prohibited.
The RCMP have deemed that this is not model "CZ858 Tactical-2P" (which is explicitly listed as not prohibited), but rather model "CZ858 Tactical-2P Spartan Limited Edition Proofed 2007 or later". Since this other model is not specifically listed as "not prohibited" it is automatically considered to be prohibited.

Arguably Wolverine should have brought in the rifle as a model "CZ858 Tactical-2P" that just happens to have a different stock.

Ahhhhh OK thank you. You explained it clearly, so thanks for that. I get it now. Lame, how that happened. Also idiotic how the RCMP thinks... like, how "by the book" do you have to be, to be THAT dumb and think it is another rifle altogether?

They are not dumb. They were specifically prohibited from doing so by this.

Which Goodale allowed them to do again. This BS is coming top down from Goodale to Paulson to FRT lab.

So i laugh at all calls to write Goodale who is a mastermind for all this anyways.

This sounds like the RCMP reacting to a perceived challenge. "Come and get them." Almost as if they believe we are challenging their perceived "Authority." This is almost a childish reaction. I can just see them saying we "Let" them own these firearms and they challenge our "Authority!"
This is why you don't let a Police force do the job of legislators. They love having that power over us. And this is them telling us to get back in line... I guess they don't understand this is a democracy. Ffs legal gun owners are the ####ing good guys. Facts we are 3 times less likely to commit any crime than the average citizen and they think they can treat us like effing children.
In the long run they are just pissing off good Canadian citizens. And hopefully we can get Drama queen out of office next election. And hopefully a good conservative leadership listens to our e mails and phone calls and puts the RCMP back in their place...

This looks like nothing more than a giant Phuck you due to the engravings on this particular gun. Maybe that's just the paranoid side talking again.

That is what it's all about. The last batch of beaver barf CZ's Wolverine brought in last year wasn't an issue for the RCMP. I believe this has everything to do with them moving forward with prohibiting all of them if this is allowed to happen.

Are you serious!?! Do you think anybody in their right mind would even think of the possibility of these being reclassified as prohibited because of an engraving? Same rifle different wood furniture and dust cover

Would someone who knows how be interested in helping Wolverine with a GoFundMe page for his legal bill and / or compensate him for his financial losses?

Let's face it folks, losing money in a business is something that smart businesspeople anticipate and guard against. Government abuse of power and acting on a whim is not generally identified as a business risk in developed countries like ours.
