Cz 858 Vz 58 AKM muzzlebrake Plus Jimi Hendrix :P

The AKM brake is cool looking but totally useless. Try out one of the "long" issue brakes, it'll treat you much better and not affect your accuracy.

Good vid btw.

I would suggest that the bullet moving might have more to do with your trigger. Even in the video I can see a pretty major flinch developing. Your rifle is actually moving slightly before you pull the trigger! Try the prone position and learn how to use the sling for support. I have not met a VZ 58 or 858 that wouldn't group better than most of the shooters using it.

I just picked up a CZ-858. It came with a muzzle brake but I haven't installed it yet. Should I even bother installing it?

I beg to differ.

No need to beg, it's still a "free" country. ;)

My experience with that brake was that the compensation effect is so pronounced that it produces muzzle drop instead of rise. Since the gun is well balanced the muzzle drop has a corresponding stock rise and stiff smack-in-the-face effect.

Nothing helps develop a good flinch like getting socked in the face every time you squeeze the trigger.

YMMV

i was thinking the same thing but the trigger is fairly good it is not very hard to pull at all, might have a bit of tention but i dought enough to cause that bad of a grouping.

my reasoning behind that is before i put this muzzle brake on i was shooting very tight groupings at over 200m.

Glad i am not the only one who noticed this, cool for looks #### for use!

I'm gonna buy one of these brakes, and shave some length off the end, for a less pronounced muzzle-down effect. seems like a good choice for a brake, while still using the bayonet (I'm totally keeping my rifle as eastern commie as possible :))

Nice musical preferences, guys :)
Bless your musical taste and the fact that you post it in here.

Yes, Machine Gun is an interesting choice, thanks for pointing that out.
There are so many Machine Gun versions out there,
so different from a performance to another, from night to night
(yet each an example of excellence)
that I would find it really difficult to make a definite choice.
Here are some:

One of the most known versions:

LA version:

NYC version:

Isle of Wight

allegedly the last Machine Gun live performance (Berlin):

interesting studio version (in 2 parts):

Thanks for making my day, guys :)

RIP, Jimi…

Yeah, so it smacks you in the cheek, eh?
Let’s see a little about that.
If you used that comp consecutively on the VZ and CZ
(and especially if you hold both guns in the same way)
you will notice that the comp has more effect on the CZ (smacks vigorously).
That is because the CZ has a longer barrel,
so the forces that press the comp down have more leverage,
therefore the gun smacks you harder.

In the case of 2 guns (not only VZ/CZ, but any guns)
with different barrel lengths (but everything else the same),
if the guns have no compensators,
the one with longer barrel will have less of muzzle climb,
therefore guns with longer barrels require less compensating.
That particular comp was copied after an AK comp,
designed to work on a shorter barrel.
On a longer barrel it is ``overkill``.

So that was what was doing that! I just had one installed on my rifle and the last time I was shooting I felt like I had been punched in the face, and that I was doing something wrong. Put 1000's of rounds through it before that with no problems...
