CZ hasn't stopped producing or buying up surplus parts to build the gun. They already own all the surplus parts to build the gun. The Vz 58 is the top selling rifle in Czech Republic. They sell more there then they do here. The amount of bad rumors that get spread on this site is terrible. The P stands for Pechotni which means infantry. It was the standard rifle issued to basic infantry. V stands for Vysadkovy which means paratroop but was used by all troops that didn't always need a rifle such as tankers and officers. The only difference is the stock fixed or side folding. The CZUB Vz 58 had two gremlins. One that is easily fixable at home, the other requiring some welding skills. The CSA Vz 58's all have these issues addressed. The CSA have 5 years of warranty and CSA really back their product well with multiple people reporting excellent warranty service some even getting the whole gun replaced. From a limited thread that someone posted, it seems to be about 80% of CSA Vz 58s are fine while 20% have issues. That's a very high issue rate since that makes 2 out every 10 sold having issues and when its a gun that is popular and sells well, you're going to hear about the ones that have issues all over the net. As far as I'm aware, the Century arms Vz 58 are also non chrome lined. The ones with military length barrels sold in America aren't so I would assume these are not as well. If they were chrome lined, I would also assume Westrifle would advertise that under their reorder page for the Century arms Vz 58 and they do not. I do expect them to be a well rounded rifle that will be a popular sell since they do so well in America. Do note that the threaded muzzle on the Century arms Vz 58 is in Imperial pitch not metric so putting a CZ muzzle brake on for the first time will be kind of hard but once you get it on the first time it messes the Imperial thread enough to where the metric thread works.
Its funny that someone would hate the Vz 58 simply because its barrel isn't mil spec. Not sure why someone would say its a Mossberg barrel either. The only thing not mil spec on the non-restricted CZUB Vz 58 is the barrel and yet the Type 97 isn't mil spec either.
The Vz 58 isn't being reclassified that is just a rumor. Make no mistake that its on Wendy's radar so we may or may not loose the Vz 58 in the future. However, its non-restricted so good luck to them to try and find them all.
