I have been thinking of buying one for a year or so buy every day i see posts about people having issues with them. The gremlin and other issues have made me back out a few times now. Are there 858's this problematic ? If i buy one who is the best to get one from, basically if I have any gremlin or anything i want it fixed properly or replaced. Also are there any members here that can "tab" the carrier if needed ?

Thanks for any help, i really want one but dont want the headache of having it repaired all the time.

I just bought a used one on EE, it's been disappointing. I received it about 3 weeks ago, took it to the range, and couldn't get a magazine through it without the gremlin popping up. I shimmed the sear, and it seemed to make a bit of a difference, but not acceptable still. My carrier is currently out getting tabbed, and I am confident this will cure my issue. This is a very cheap fix.

As frustrating as my experience has been, I still am in love with this platform. I've wanted one for years. Despite my issue, it hasn't stopped me from spending a few hundred bucks on upgrades. In the odd chance that you get a rifle with a gremlin, it should be easily remedied. I don't think it's anywhere near 50/50.

If it really concerns you, you could always get the CSA version. They come pre-tabbed. But honestly, for what the CSA's go for, I purchased my rifle, sent the bolt out for tabbing, bought a complete parts kit, and a few upgrades.

If you dont mind me asking who does that bolt tabs ? Also what does this cost?

Love mine! - many thousands of rounds down range and NOT ONE jam or issue of any kind. I can't say the same for any other semi auto that I own or have owned...

Get the FSN or CSA if you don't want to gamble with this problem. There are a few bolt action 7.62x39 rifles available as well...
