would have been nice if we could have gotten some specs on the chrome lining process on these barrels in that video.
 
Since chrome lining is out of the question, would nitro carbonizing work just as well and be a cheaper solution for the same result?

The vz58 is not as reliable as the 858? I looked and (tried) to use the search but I can't find the info on this.

Any help would be appreciated.
 
The 'gremlin issue' that was hit or miss for which no dealer fully addressed as far as I know. More and more rifles were imported. That being said I've never experienced a gremlin at all.
 
AFAIK, the gremlin was more a problem for the 858 than the vz58. Some of the vz58's had their own problems with overgassing though, which has been well addressed by the warranty department.

edit: I was wrong and the 858 was made by cz, not csa.

Whats also interesting is that CZ (not CSA) are making this. CZ was the original manufacturer.

The vz58 and 858 in Canada are from a Czech Small Arms, not CZ. as far as I understand it anyway.

The CZ 858 was definitely made by CZ, same folks who make the 958. The VZ58's in Canada are from CSA.
 
I have owned both the CSA and CZ 858 and they both ran great, the CSA came with the bolt tabbed (so no slam firing gremlin) and a nicer finish. The CZ 858 came with more mags and was cheaper, I have owned two of the 858's and I never had any issues with slam firing. I fully intend to keep my CSA VZ 58 and add one of the new CZ 958 to the collection. You can never have too many variations of this fine platform.
 
This is awesome I didn't know you could have a custom firearm made, I am in for the Canadian version when they come out, how long till we can get one, so I can save the right amount.

Firstly for the record, at one time CSA was a sub contractor for CZ regarding the CZ 858.

I had not considered the CZ 958 a "Custom " firearm but I guess she is :) The CZ 958 is a completely redesigned firearm manufacture by Brno for Wolverine Supplies through CZ-UB and has nothing at all to do with CSA.
 
email you mp's and get them on the rcmp lab's case. the more pressure the faster you fellows will be able to take one home. I got to put this one through a little workout again today...these are really a fantastic firearm...
