Hey Guys, new to the restricted market and looking at two pistols. The CZ 97B and the Colt 1991, both in .45ACP. Any thoughts or opinions would be appreciated. Thanks !!!

I have had two CZ97's and both were fantastic. If I were still shooting 45acp, I would be shooting CZ. I do like 1911's just not in 45...

Just make sure it fits your hands, they are approximately the size of Glock 20/21 non- SF models.

I have small hands and was worried by all the stories about how huge the 97BD was but once I held it I loved it. It is nowhere near as huge as people make it out to be.

Great gun!

As far as the Colt goes, I find them way over priced. Plenty of other quality 1911 .45s for less money. If you just want a pony on your slide go ahead but there are plenty of cheaper good quality options.

I once owned a CZ 97b($700) with 5 mags($40 each) and a special holster to fit it+ mag holders($150). All in about $1050
I now own 2 STI 45's a 5" Trojan and a 6" TargetMaster. Mags ($20-30ea) Holster $40 mag holders $24ea.
If I were to do it all over again I would start with the STI 1911 models.
I just bought a brand new 45acp - a Norinco, my beater gun. What a piece of letdown!!

Thanks for the imput, what calibre are you shooting now and why ?

I find 1911's in 38 super and 10mm much more interesting to shoot than 45. I may even get a 9mm 1911 in the future.

If CZ made a 97 in 10mm I wouldn't hesitate to get one.

I do have a 45 that I really like shooting----- 45 Colt

I have had both guns you talk about and for me th CZ 97B was the gun. Far easier to shoot and way more reliable to function with all kinds of ammo then the Colt was. It was also half the price. The grip is larger as it is a double stack but I have large hands so that was not a problem for me but rather a nice feature.

According to me, you can't be disappointed with a CZ 97B. Robust, accurate and on duty for a life time... Great choice for a great gun...

I have medium sized hands and yes I thought too the CZ97 wasnt going to fit, but until I held one it really does feel/fit my hand nicely. almost like my old baby DE.

Just bought a CZ 85 combat and I love it. #### think am gonna have to buy a 97 now.

Thanks alot guys
