Has anyone shot a CZ 97B yet ? I was told its not the right gun for the .45 The test I read said the gun was wicked and really accurate. ? I have never shot the CZ style gun but I have shot the 1911 style and really like it. So which one ? It will be my first semi-auto so I thought I would ask you guys. And I really like the Kimber ! Id buy them both but I have to live with my wife!

The CZ is a nice gun but a big gun. I'm not a fan of double stack pistols in a big ctg like the .45ACP. If it were me I'd get the Kimber as I prefer a single stack 1911 over anything else. However, I have owned CZ's in 9mm before & really loved those pistols.

We have not had good luck with the CZ97B on the range. Our last gun suffered from a broken barrel lug and bushing after a very short period of time.

Wow ! Kimber it is. I plan to shoot LOTS with this gun. Thanks for the info. Any other suggestions ?

Don't rule out the XD45...

I've heard great stuff about the 97B and almost bought one but it was too big for my hands. I've fired one at the range though and it is great. All steel too so the recoil is smooth.

Redleg, what is your experience with CZ 75 at the range? Have you had any Steyrs?

since biggerair decided on a Kimber thought might be OK to hijack.... :p

CZ75B has provided good service, but you will end up replacing slide stops over the years.
The Steyr pistol lasted a couple weeks then the trigger return spring broke. We are still waiting on repairs. This could have been an anomoly so we'll see what happens when it returns.

Best .45 Auto ?

Thanks for all the info. But with so many choices of a good .45 auto its hard to pick. This gun will see very heavy use, so I really want something reliable. HK also crossed my plate, expensive but is it worth it ? Baby Eagles also...are they good ? Any info im into guys, skys the limit.
Thanks

HK is only $1000 - not that much more expensive than the other guns that you've listed.

You can't go wrong with a good 1911, and that says alot considering I'm "CZ Man" ! I haven't shot the 97B, but I own a few CZ 75's and they are great, but if you are sure you want a 45 ACP, then go with a 1911, you can't go wrong! I prefer the Springfields though over a Kimber. I'd stay away from H&K, they don't last as long in my experience. I've just got an XD in 45, only 200 rds thru it but it seems great so far. My 2 cents.
