I'm in the market for a quality good shooting .22 that won't break the bank. (just like everybody :)) I like the CZ's. I had a CZ452 lux -- great gun but had 1 major problem. In order to scope it, I had to put high mounts on it to clear the bolt handle. The scope was just a standard 3x9 power Tasco. The problem was that the scope had to be mounted so high that my face was almost off the stock and was uncomfortable to shoot. My question -- Does the CZ American have the same problem with the bolt? (I see CZ .22's advertised on the EE all pictured with very high scopes)
Thanks/cheers, John

I mounted a Tasco 6-24x on my CZ452 American, a pretty "large" scope by definition, and had it on BKL rings, med or high, I don't remember. Had lots of clearance at the barrel and no problems clearing the bolt handle. It didn't affect my cheekweld either.

The Lux does have a different butt stock so that might be the culprit here.

I'm looking at a CZ in .204, but I just can't do it. The rifle would be perfect if not for the bolt clearance issue.......I can not spend that kind of money on a gun and mount a scope so high.....extreme scope height is just not natural for me to shoot.
If anyone has a solution for this please let me know.

Personally I like a fairly high scope for the way I shoot so I haven't noticed it on mine and I've never heard people mention this problem with the CZ's before.

A good smith should be able to help you out by bending the handle or possibly fitting a different one to the bolt. Would be a shame to have to do all that though.

Not rimfire but..... I have had no problems with the scope mount on this CZ 527 Kevlar. The parts on this one seem to have gone together perfectly. Also look at Cummins 4x4's rifle with the Leupold.

The bolt clearance on mine is perfect, and the cheek weld is good. I have not complaints at all. The stock trigger needed some work, but they sure are nice after a gunsmith works on them.

James Calhoon sells modified bolt handles for cz 527's. I haven't used one but probably the only option.

I have a CZ 527 in a 204 with CZ 527 rings and a 4-12 3200 on top and I have no issues with bolt clearance or their height.
What scope are you trying to mount and with which brand of rings? FS

Thanks, rp, I was thinking the American might solve the problem. Iwas also looking at the new Remington Model 5.

The model 5 if you can find one for a good price are an excellent 22 rifle.
I have one in 22 magnum that is a great shooting rifle. In the USA they were branded as Charles Daly's and there is lots of info about the accuracy of these guns on rimfire central.
Now that they are under the Rem banner they come with a laminate stock. The bluing on these rifles is a high polish that s very nice. FS

I have a CZ452 American and it came with rings. I mounted a Nikon Prostaff and it shoots pretty fine. No issues with the bolt fouling anything. Maybe try the CZ rings and see if that helps.

Thanks everyone for the valued opinions -- Bought the Remington Model 5
Cheers, John

Geez

Sure hope you found them on sale where ever you bought it, I see Epps has them on for $260.00 and the youth model for $215.00.

Best rimfire buy in the country if you ask me. FS
