i want to try out cowboy action shooting, and want to use my 20 gauge bobwhite, 'cause that's what i have. the extractor isn't very strong, resulting in having to pull shells manually. i know extractors don't "eject", but mine seems excessively stiff, spent shells usually stick without extracting at all. any suggestions?

Perhaps due to dirt/gunk buildup? Use a few drops of CLP breakfree and leave the bbls upright for a while...please ensure that the CLP doesn't reach the blue anywhere on the bbls....may lighten the color. At least, that's what I suspect it did slightly to my 28ga Bobwhite bbls.

SASS Rule: Side-by-side shotguns may not use automatic ejectors. I don't have my Bob White handy at the moment, also new, so can't remember extraction, but be careful of this rule, you will see a lot of CAS shooter throw back their empties, they don’t extract. I use an external hammer SxS for CAS, I have to pull shells by fingers if stuck. I am sure someone else will fill in on this..
The Bobwhite is equipped with extractor only....no ejectors on this model. Tilting the opened breech/bbls sharply toward the ground may also quickly empty the chambers. However, that may be easier to achieve when the sxs mechanism becomes smoother post usage.
Very likely if the sxs is new and hasn't been used much. My Bobwhites were acquired in 2005 and get used during hunting season only and the actions are still quite stiff. However, those do not fail to extract.
In fact, I've owned 4 Bobwhites (12/16/20/28ga).....none had this problem.
