brass or surface rust? get some "000 Synthetic Steel Wool" (I love this stuff) from Rona and rub it till gone :) Looks like it is very thin whatever it is.

here is a better pic.

Better polish that up before shoving some lacquer coated bullet's in there. Unless you want a sticky chamber sencerio.

I had the same problem with my 858. I took a 20gauge bore brush (could have been .410, just took and empty casing to Canadian Tire and picked a brass brush bigger than the casing) and solvent and worked at it. Not easy to manipulate the brush in there. I thought it was good the first time but needed to do it a second time about two weeks later. Has not returned.

If you have a m14 USGI cleaning kit. The brass chamber brush works perfectly for this I noticed. Here is a pic of what I am talking about;

I will try on Sunday- gotta work on Saturday,it's cutting in on my gun time! I have also bought foaming bore cleaner, and the accelerator to go with it. I will give all a try and post my results. Thanks again!!!

The best way to take a gun picture, is no flash, in a well lit room, with the camera on a tripod, using a longer exposure setting. You COULD go all out, but this will take very presentable pictures to show whatever you're talking about, to us shlubs on teh intraweb.

( sorry it took me so long to update) I tried gun solvent, then I tried foaming bore cleaner, then I tried G-96- but none would remove the stain/rust whatever it was. I did get it off by using a small piece of Scotchbrite pad (red). I put my cleaning rod through the barrel- without anything in the patch holder. Once it stuck out the breach, I attached a wrap of scotchbrite and pulled it back into the breach, and began to spin the rod. Fixed it!!
