The 14 inch uses the short gas system like the 11 inch. The 16.5 inch Bren uses the longer gas system. The military configuration is the 8 inch 11 inch and 14 inch. The 16.5 inch was made for the US civilian market.

I was wrong. 14 and 11 do share same gas system length.
