CZ Bren 2 MS NON-Restricted MAJOR UPDATE Post 587

For what it’s worth to those complaining about the 11” conversions having over gassing issues and disproportional looking handguard/NR barrel. There are commercial solutions that are tested and proven. HB industries makes a 13.8” handguard with a provision for adjusting the gas setting. They also make a high load piston spring to tame the recoil on longer barrels with carbine gas setups. Yes it adds a bit more cost, but the handguard is superior to OEM imo, and the spring is only $10.

This is the route RDSC took with their conversion offerings.

Don’t lose hope, you deserve a Bren 2

its the first day i can sit down with a coffee and really think about everything that has happened since the change on 3/15.
i had my deposit back within a day, cant ask for more, what they were trying to do was unreal and i love to support that sh*t but...

its really all about the timeline:

deposit put down the morning of the preorder announcement about 10 months ago. awesome. love it. first in, first out.... right? its a preorder tho... has a preorder ever gone well??

3/15 - huge update about rebarreled 16" rifles. at that point we had literally NO info on the barrel conversion other than length. how someone could wait 10 months for a factory direct czech rifle and then stomp on a factory warranty and opt all in on a conversion with zero details beats me, but many clearly do not care. each to their own.

5 days ago, the morning of the 20th, details on barrel were provided. ok now we are talking, now I can deal with this... a 16 conversion doesnt sound bad. great price... email says i still have 2 more days to get back to them, if i do not reply to email they will call me. awesome. this isnt what i ordered, but is exciting and appreciated.

3/21, the next morning, no more 16's left for me, only 11". hold up... what? ive been waiting 10 months for this and i get ONE real day to confirm something that has been pretty drastically changed... no, im not getting a 11" conversion, i appreciate the effort but that is too much compromise. this has been an option on the market for a while and not appealing to me. each to their own, but how many 16's were even available, 100? is this really even relevant to the preorder anymore? seems like a totally different thing to me. whatever.

3/24 rifles already at the smith for re-barreling. it has been 10 days since the update. i know enough about importing to know that doesnt really make sense... the boxes say "cz usa" but the ends read "made in czech". these are fully paid for... what are you getting, when you get them??

it was my understanding we started out with czech direct factory NR's.... and in 10 days that turned into un-warrantied 11" conversions (from the states?) that are probably about 2 months out, if i am reading correctly.

This project was always on the "budget" end of the spectrum... i get it. for another grand or so there are other options. but once we start ripping apart factory rifles i start thinking... did this really need to get rushed through so quick??

i need another coffee...

A bit of r&d on gas port size rather than drilling the new barrel the same as the old and throwing in a heavier spring would be the ideal solution.

Do we get at least one pinned magazine?
Just realized after paying the preorder I have no clue if a magazine is included.
Dlask can we get a picture of the Bren markings for CZUB or CZ USA and hand guard configuration?
Also what was included in the box.

Thanks!

Hey Mr Marstar,
The CZ Bren 2 PPS DMR in .308 was mentioned in this thread a short while ago and I'd like you to see my question so I'll post here.
Apparently the new PPS is semi-auto ONLY as manufactured by CZ so is there any reason you can't get your hands on a few of these for us?

The .308 I'd really like to add to the collection is the new Steyr DMR. Is anyone looking into this? He says orders are being taken now, haha Both in NR version of course.

@stitches, the PPS is not being sold to the civilian market according (at this time) to north Sylva and according to CZUB. Case
Closed. There are 3 threads about this.

Thank you for this, we really are trying our best. At this point, it would have been simpler to just refund deposits.

We feel as though CZ is ultimately responsible for the delays in getting the correct NR Factory version of the rifle to us to deliver to our pre-orders. Barring that, we felt we had a moral responsibility to offer something palatable to the clients who trusted us with their order. We realize that you generally prefer the 16" model, we've done everything we can including trying to procure the rifles from the USA directly (Blocked due to non-competition/exclusivity agreements already in place) to make these available. Huge shout out to DLASK for helping us with this project

We did, emails were sent in batches, in order, to customers on the pre order list. If you didn't get an email yet it's because there are people who ordered before you.

Yes, same price, yes you will get to keep the 11" barrel

Full payment is due when you commit to the conversion, we are sending out invoices today and tomorrow.

The way I read this these rifles were NOT sourced in the US

I'll chime in here for a second...if anyone local wants to save the shipping and pick up their rifle in person they are free to. I have spoken with John at Marstar and told him this is OK with us provided you can be patient and let us work. Marstar will contact you when your rifle is done and ready then you call us to arrange a time. Not a problem.

The barrels are going to be awesome. We have ordered and paid for them and you guys will love them, promise. As for the difference of short vs. long gas system it makes zero difference. We have converted every type CZ makes (except the elusive 14 inch 5.56) and they cycle and function perfectly, no need to worry. This isn't the first EVER piston gun and certainly not the first we have converted.

With the short gas system it is possible to have the option of much different barrel lengths should you choose to swap barrels in the future. With the 16.5 inch you can only go between that and 18.5 inches so two inches difference, what's the point in that, lol.

Off to work I go, you all have a fantastic weekend.

Thanks for taking the time to chime in, I appreciate your workload is heavy right now.

You mentioned the long / short gas systems and that it makes zero difference - is that because you have made some tweaks to the gas system to accommodate the longer barrels (some folks have mentioned potential solutions like different sized gas ports to ensure the gun isn't crazy overgassed).

To be clear, I'm not asking for anyone to divulge any proprietary information just an explanation if there were any engineered changes to the gas system when fitting a long barrel to the short gas system so it would emulate the longer gas system to ensure it wasnt overgassed

Edit - forgot to ask - what profile will the NR barrel be on the 16" & 11"

Your site states that Brens with the long gas system will have a heavy profile so is it implied that the Brens with the short gas system will use a lighter barrel profile?
