CZ Bren 2 MS NON-Restricted MAJOR UPDATE Post 587

He got a lemon and broke it then rambled for 40 minutes about nutn. We’re getting a real stock, not the adapter so the 2 issues shouldn’t apply here.

All hands on deck in the shipping area to get these packed and shipped asap but I snuck away for a quick photo for you guys.
We only got the 16" converted rifles, the 11" are coming later

Should we expect the OEM muzzle brake on the old 16" barrel or the new 18.6" barrel?

Anyone here have any experience with these hands on with a couple hundred/ thousand rounds? Really want to buy one of the available brens but damn the Nutnfancy bren 2 video just chews up my faith in it. Anyone have issues with the upper and lower splitting apart while shooting? Loose stocks needing chunks of credit cards to shim out the play / gap?

Someone talk me into this over a Apc223 Pro.

I have 4 of these 2 nr and 2 sbr they are great over thousand rounds in each

Worst case I'd pick up a Haga defence aluminum lower.

My personal opinion you would be silly to buy a Bren 2 over a APC223 Pro if you are looking to shoot .223. The action feels nicer in the ergonomics are better on the APC. The APC won't lose its value like these re-barreled guns will if CZ gets their act together and can deliver factory NR versions. The only reason to have a Bren imo is for a modern 7.62x39 platform.

IMO the Bren is better for shooting 223. I have an APC223 and its incredibly nice and super smooth, but it’s heavy af. For 223 and it’s low recoil, it doesn’t need to be that heavy. The ergos I would say is a tie.

I think the Bren 2 conversions will hold their value exceptional well. Especially the 11 inch conversions. You get 2 barrels and it’s $1500+tax cheaper than the APC223. There is much less room for depreciation vs the APC223.

The APC223 is one of the nicest guns I’ve ever seen, but I think the Bren 2 is more versatile and is the best value deal for 223 out there right now.

The Bren is also battle proven…The APC is mostly only fielded in 9mm by the few users who deploy it tactically. I second the weight benefit of the Bren and we are getting superior barrels than the factory models.

Combat proven quite frankly means very little as long as you're buying from quality manufacturer that designs for LE/Mil Contracts.

Many platforms are overlooked just because they are too expensive or can't be produced in the qty's req, or 1 of a great many other innocuous reasons.

I would say the main points the Bren loses to the APC are in the following:
-non-folding CH
-ambi bolt catch/release is difficult to use with your index finger without flirting with the trigger, but at least the ping pong paddle like a standard AR is still every-bit as good as it has been on other platforms for RH shooters...
-no choice of pistol grips
-fit and finish of components isn't as nice on the Bren
-the action isn't as slick and smooth on the Bren either.

The APC might be heavier than the brand but I feel like it's more of a perception based thing than anything due to the fact that most of them in the past have come with extremely lightweight stocks while not paying much attention to the front heaviness. The more recent versions that have had significant lightning cuts to the handguard are way better than earlier versions and benefit greatly from throwing an ACR stock on them to get the right balance.

I'm not sure that the original 11 inch barrel is much value to most folks, as I understand it is rather difficult to swap the gas system back and forth requiring a hydraulic press and other specialized tools, and most folks likely aren't to interested in turning there non-restricted back into restricted, although I can understand that may change in the future for some folks.

Combat proven means it’s been put through the ringer and unexpected issues are identified. For example the G36 loses accuracy from barrel heat after extensive firing.

The newest lightest apc223 pro is over 8 pounds. Relative to 6 pound ARs it’s heavy any way you cut it. The Bren is closer to AR weight.

The 11 inch barrel is sought after. It can be sold for $500-$1000. People in the states clamour for them. If sold for top dollar, you’re looking at a $2500 rifle vs a $5000 rifle. Fit and finish is nicer on the APC but for that price it better be.

You can put an aluminum lower on the Bren and have AR grips and triggers. It’s cheaper to switch the stock. There are more hand guard options on the Bren. You get 2 barrels out the gate. There’s not a lot of customization available for the APC.

The APC is a Gucci rifle and you should get one to flex. It’s a great rifle and worth it just to fondle, but the Bren is a more practical rifle imo.

Now that these are shipping - I want to see this thread loaded with photos of rifles as arrive into people homes. If you can take the extra step and kit it out before posting your pictures ;) I hope we are no more than 2-3 days away from this place beeing flooded with sweet Bren 2 builds.

Glad you like your APC. This is the CZ Bren page. Please kindly move along lol.

What says I have one or the other, and not neither or both? Another CGNer asked and I offered as much of an unbiased and objective take as I could based on my experience of both so far. Nothing I've said is untrue or not worth considering for those sitting on the fence. For the record, the Bren is a great rifle, I just don't think it's the best of these two options if price isn't your primary concern, and that shouldn't be a shocker or offensive to anyone.
