CZ Bren 2 MS NON-Restricted MAJOR UPDATE Post 587

Good morning All,

Just to clear up some of the armchair quarterbacking going on in this thread....

1) In the USA it is law, as it will be here once we adopt the UN Firearm Marking Regulations, that all imported firearms be engraved with the name and state of the importer. In this case it is CZ-USA hence these rifles say 'CZ-USA, Kansas City, KS'

All Bren 2 MS rifles are made in The Czech Republic by CZUB.

2) This is the handguard on all of the CZ-USA rifles. I will speculate they are made by HBI in The States, they are not the Euro version like on the shorter rifles. The hanguards look and feel fantastic and are M-LOK capable. This makes them also much easier to take on and off since they have less screws unlike the Euro version that is glued together with Blue Loctite, ugh...

3) The magazines are cheap and crappy little 5 rounders but that is from our Canadian official CZ importer, not Marstar. Nothing we can do about that except to shrug and know that good quality AR-15 mags are still fairly cheap and available. . . for now. Like me and many others, you probably already have a box of these from the AR-15 the Gov't stole from you.

4) The 16.5 inch and 11 inch both run flawlessly once we convert them. The 'Long' vs. 'Short' nonsense that has been going on in this thread is painful at best. We have converted over 100+ of them in all different configurations from the factory and they all leave here cycling as good or better than when they left the CZUB factory. We don't play about with springs or other doo-dads, we gas them properly to cycle on the standard setting of the gas block. These guns also have an adverse setting so you will never be out of go-juice to make these things run and run.

If it is simply about the look of the hand guards then that is personal preference and I understand that completely, to each their own.

But as far as the rhetoric about how CZ spent all this time doing this massive amount of R+D to tune each different this and that...no, they didn't. In fact they spent SO LITTLE time that the original 14 inch 7.62 guns had to have modifications to the gas regulator just to make them work at all. This is the reason some have THREE holes in them instead of two, reg and adv.

All in all these are absolutely brilliant rifles. They are well balance, ergonomic and simple to take down for cleaning and repairs. Sure doesn't hurt that the aftermarket parts companies are also making stuff to accommodate different tastes.

Stay well guys and know that between Marstar and ourselves we will do our best to make this a purchase you will be happy with for years to come.

Can we get some official confirmation that these rifles do NOT come with iron sights? A quick google search of the 16.5' CZ USA Bren 2 Ms also show they do not ship with sights.

Correct the 16" rifle does NOT come with flip up sights, we are working on trying to get some Magpul flip up sights at a good price.
The 11" does come with flip up sights, as pictured.

I'm curious what the timeline is like to convert a single rifle from start to finish? Is this like a 10 minute job? several hours?

Same with the paper work required to convert/verify it has been converted from NR to R. What's involved in that?

I'm guessing a licensed gunsmith would do it and send off the paperwork.

A guy I know changed his bren from R to NR and it took 8 months of the RCMP dragging their ass to finally issue an official reclassification.

I dunno though....results may vary....

Hi MarStar.

I pre-ordered CZ Bren last May and recently pulled out my deposit due to the disappointing 11inch version that was going to be converted. That mainly due to the fact that I already own 11 inch version. But due to my research, I’m considering getting 11 inch version. I just have couple questions that don’t let me sleep at night.

Considering you guys are not tuning up gas system like RDSC does for their 11” versions, will there be an option to purchase HBI Optimized Gas Regulator Assembly? Their website seems to offer different ones for different barrel lengths as well as the HBI High Load Gas Piston Spring?

Will it be up to us to install it or you would be able to do that with an extra cost?

Before anyone starts criticizing and saying it’s okay, no need to worry about gas system running with NR barrel…
The problem is that I want the rifle to run for a long time… no body knows if we ever going to get Original Non restricted CZ Bren from the manufacturer. As Bren might be banned by then… As far as I understand You also lose the warranty from CZ as soon as you swap a barrel.

The Gas regulator and Gas piston spring that I’m talking about:

look at 4

I wouldn't buy a converted rifle from a company that is just using the same size gas port on the new barrel and throwing a stiffer spring or some other band aid on it.

Dlask is doing their conversions the right way in regards to sizing the gas port correctly.

Thank you for providing that information. With all of the reading and different opinions I some how missed that statement by Dlask Arms.
