CZ Bren 2 MS NON-Restricted MAJOR UPDATE Post 587

Their site says they are closed today so I would assume things will get going again tomorrow. I am still waiting too. But at least they are going out, which did not look like it was a possibility late last year. Good on all involved to make it happen.

I got under 2 MOA with Federal 62 grain, and between 2-3 MOA with Winchester 55 grain White box 223 and 5.56 as well as Barnaul 55 grain steel case.

So same as every semi auto 5.56 on the market. Color me surprised that every modern semi auto gets basically the same accuracy. Maybe we can all put the accuracy debate to bed and forget about a magical unicorn 1 MOA semi auto shooting bulk ammo.

I am interested to see what it shoots with premium ammo. Ball ammo is mostly only capable of 2 moa at best. Depends on the lot tho. I have found PMC to be very accurate. Some of us are getting these rifles for varmint control…

Yeah don't take my results as gospel, it may be the shooter. Also note that during the same session my Gen 1 MCR was getting groups roughly 1MOA larger than what the Bren was doing.

I've never used premium ammo in a 223 blaster before, these are bulk ammo volume shooters to me. 1.5-2MOA with cheap bulk is good to go in my books.

I've never actually shot PMC, I'll likely pick some up during my restock.

I'm curious as to why all these NR converted brens seem to be built on 11" rifles as opposed to 16" ones? Would look better without having to purchase a $500 handguard, and I assume the gassing would be more appropriate... Eons of dwell time on that barrel/gas system combo.

Canada Post says I should have mine by the end of the day today! If the girlfriend doesn't sign for it - I will be at the post office at closing time today to grab it =D

This has been addressed and is a non issue.

This order started with the premise that it would be factory supplied NRs but that aint happening as CZ is maxed out sending rifles to Ukraine, it then switched to converted 16"s but they couldn't source enough so they took 11"s too.

You are correct about the gas systems (16" & 18" will have the "long" gas system and everything else will have the "short" system). Dlask have played with the short gas system (ie tested different orifice sizes for the gas port) until they found a size which offers good reliability with minimal gas.

The upside of the converted 11"s is that they can use a thinner profile barrel and the gas block is closer to the rifle so they should be less front heavy.
