I'm thinking of putting a cz action in an mdt chassis. The following barreled actions look the same to me, am I missing something, or is there a difference between the two? Also, can anyone suggest the best source for replacement barrels for a cz 457? I'd eventually like to get a longer heavy, varmint barrel.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Seems like the barrelled action has a match barrel? Hard to tell.

Check out IBI for a new barrel, I have one on my 455 and love it.

You would be better off buying the synthetic stock rifle and taking off the barrel/stock and selling them on here. I would also suggest getting an IBI barrel for it, heard lots of good things.

It was confirmed by Tesro that the barrel included in that action is match chambered, same as what comes with the MTR.

I'd love to see a head-to-head comparison between the match-chambered MTR barrel and an aftermarket barrel, e.g. IBI, Lilja, etc., using the same receiver and chassis to keep things consistent. Then, one could really see why you'd want to spend the extra on the custom barrel.

Its not the same bbl, The MTR is a little bit thicker than the Varmint Match barreled action I got from Tesro, haven’t assembled it yet so can’t tell if accuracy is at par with MTR, first time seeing the MTR today, glad did not take the complete MTR because the LOP is a little bit long for my liking.

Interesting. How much thinner is the barrel?

In the end, as long as it has the same precision as the MTR in terms of chamber and performance, a bit less weight can likely be overcome with choice of chassis and some weights out front.

If the barreled action only barrel is slimmer than the MTR barrel, it may well be a CZ 457 Varmint barreled action, which has the standard CZ chamber. The MTR and LRP models have the CZ "match" chamber.

The barreled action bbl OD is .866” , stamped “Match 22LR 1/2x28”, can someone measure their MTR barrel OD, thanks

Maybe these old eyes are playing tricks on me, the MTR just looks thicker than the Action I have, but numbers don’t lie, so.866” it is
