How the hell do you put them back together? Nothing I do will make the interior locking plate engage the base plate on my factory 9mm mags. The base plate just slides off.

This is the first mags I've ever had problems with. Also the first mags where the spring doesn't have a distinct top or bottom to them. Most mag springs re different at each end. And the locking plate doesn't actually connect to the spring, it just sort of sits there.

I had no choice with one, it hit the floor and blew apart. typical of these neutered atrocities we are stuck with, but usually they go back together (at least other makes) without any issues.

I take mine apart about once a month, they get dirty rather quick. I have 2 factory mags & 2 Tanfoglio. The latter ones are A-OK, the former ones - a major PITA. Like Johnsks said, use a pick, move around, slide, swear, move some more, etc. - until it finally locks in place. Try to use a brass punch instead of a pick, I find my plates are already scratched big-time because of the pick use.

If anyone knows of a way to clean mags without disassembly, please share...

P.S. I

taken mine apart noticed the same thing difficult to reassemble. part of my problem was the tab on the bottom was loose. i set it to the middle best as possible then gave it a extra pinch with the pliers so it doesn't move shifted here and there used a rod of sorts and it eventually snapped into place. perhaps someone could make a more efficient plate for the bottom of the spring so it doesnt shift around too much i would buy some.

Just finished cleaning mine. Aside from having your tongue placed firmly on the right side of your cheek I found you had to align the metal tab just about perfectly before you slide the base pad back on. It takes patience but I found once I got the technique down they installed back together quickly.

I agree Tanfoglio mags work much better.

Take Care

I clean my mags several times a day at outdoor competitions and every now and then over winter.

The tap/rap trick works great if you are off a bit on putting them back together.

I had originally used a pick to try and fiddle with them but it was a pain so tried the tap. Much easier.

You must be using something other than the Tactical Sport mags. I never had any issues with them. At most I just give them a little tap with my hand to get the little plastic nipple to seat in the bottom. Mine were also .40's.

The 9mm 10 round mags are the 1/3 plastic baseplates ones. They suck. They are my Barney mags. No way they'll get used for anything else.

That's what I do too, snaps back in place.
Also, +10% springs have distinct top and bottom :D
