cz feeding issue

bought a new cz and recently took it out to sight in, degreased cleaned and oiled it, will fire and eject first round but sometimes the bolt handle needs to be pulled back twice to fully seat the round in the chamber, the feeding of the second round will always jam diagonally getting stuck in the receiver and deeply scratching the casing. I am using the short 5 round magazines commercial ammo and am wondering if anyone else have had this issue or have any insight into the problem?

My first instinct is to blame the magazine. The short 5-rounders seem to be of lesser quality that the 5/30s. Retry with your banana mags. If they don't give you the same trouble, and I bet you a six-pack they don't, your short mag needs to be binned.

this is a common probelm with commercial ammo (soft casing), CZ858 are designed for surplus ammo (steel casing), there are an easy fix but you should wait till the warranty expire before doing the following .

polish only the corner where the casing gets hung up (you can see the groug on the side of the casing).

Well i have tested with a couple mags and have pretty much ruled out mag issues, my rifle's problem is looking to be what Curtton suggested.

Sorry, this is not really the place but I have searched around and not come up with anything as well I did not want to start a whole thread. I need some guidence on removal of upper and lower hand gurads on the 858. I am installing some FAB stuff and am really stuck here and don't want to mess the finish. Thanks for your time.

Sorry for the miscommunication. I was inquiring on how to remove the wooden part of the guards from their metal counterparts. Also does it matter what side you punch for the lower?

I appreciate the help.

Fair enough. It is known to happen with brass cased ammo.
I expect though that after a polishing, as Curtton suggests, or you break the rifle in with a thousand or more surplus rounds it'll feed brass-cased no problem.

Personally though, I never fed mine brass until after a couple seasons of service rifle. Now it feeds the brass cased S&B I bought for hunting with no issues.
