CZ light mainspring. Light strikes anyone?

I have a #13 spring in my CZ-75B and had what must've been a light strike on my last trip to the range. (shooting, click, WTF? pulled the trigger again, BANG! didn't check the primer). So was wondering if anyone else with a light mainspring had any problems with light primer strikes.

ps: what's the factory mainspring on the Shadow?

I have had no problems with the 13lb mainspring in my CZ's, some people even clip a coil or two off yet but I would not bother.

This is with Winchester primers, not the softest.

My ammo was mixed - win and federal primers. like I said I didn't take the time to look at the primer, just remember pulling the trigger twice and getting one bang. (so much for restrike capability is pointless :stirthepot2:)

CCI used to be very hard primers but I think they are a little softer now. Nothing is as soft as Federals.

Perhaps your spring is older and "tired"? I don't know if you have cleaned your firing pin channel out in the slide maybe its crudded up and contributed to a light hit?

both the gun and the spring are new.

I've had a #13 mainspring for awhile now. Fired factory Federal, Remington and Winchester. Combat Masters and Custom Reloading Services reloads. No light primer strikes so far.

If it's new it would be worth cleaning out the firing pin channel and even checking the pin's fit in the slide while totally dry and degreased. See if it hangs up on any burrs or something such as that.

I'm running with a clipped mainspring on my Shadow and it's fine. However the same spring on my recently acquired older 75 non "b" gives me the odd light strike. But the hammer is heavier on the older gun. I've found that a lighter hammer can get away with a lighter spring because it has the velocity. A heavier hammer and lighter spring won't accellerate to a high enough velocity before hitting the firing pin to get a clean ignition.

Grease around the hammer and hammer pivot can also reduce the hammer's velocity. That area needs to be clean and have only a very light coat of oil so that the hammer can maintain its maximum acceleration before hitting the pin.
