Hi members looking for any positive or negative info
no dealers in Ottawa area to look at one of these guns
CZ 542 & 543 22lr
Kind of liking the varmint models from web site or the regular american

I have a CZ 452 ZKM. Last weekend was the first time I shot a .22 rifle.

The attached target (center 1", ring spacing 1") shows my first 10 shots with the rifle sitting down, forend supported on a bag (butt against shoulder), 50 meters, open sights, dynawhatever winchester bulk ammo from wallymart.

Exceeded my expectations, think the rifle better than I am. Like the balance of it, bolt a little sticky when rotate it down but then again, its new, slides smooth. Am happy I paid the little extra compared to other options.

I bought one last spring and couldn't be happier! Shoots way better than I ever will. One of the best .22's out there even at double the money! Some have beautiful wood too.

The Brooks trigger kit (all of about $15) is a good investment too.

Many Canadian suppliers on the net carry CZ's. Surprised that no local dealers have them. They are quite common and justly so!
 
My CZ 452 is one of the most accurate rifles I own. It will easily shoot 1/2" at 50 yds with good ammo. The fit and finish is first rate which is typical of all of the CZ products. The trigger can be easily modified with the Brooks kit but the factory trigger is quite acceptable. Richards Microfit makes several different stocks for the CZ. I have the Tackdriver stock for target work.

All in all, I don't think you can get better value for the buck.
 
Just took my new CZ452 left hand out to the range and shot groups that would make my 1022 jealous. Not used to bullets bunched up so close together at 50m and a lot of them touching. I will try a variety of brands but it looks like the CCI Minimags and Velociters are fave food. And yes, it shoots better than I can but I will work on that. Looking forward to cloverleafs. They do make a finely finished rifle. It is a delightful rifle to look at and shoot. Glad I have one. Besides the 1022 was turning into a money pit. Fun guns but not known for accuracy. The CZ will certainly be one of my faves.
 
The major difference between the 452 and the 453 is that the 453 comes with a single set trigger, which is nice for shooting at the range. FS
 
Another positive for the CZ 452 range. I have the Style in 22 and Varmint in HMR. Awesome value for money, over here they are the budget rimfire to own. Just as accurate as Weirauch and anschutz just loads of £££££ cheaper! The only rifle I would swap my CZ hmr for would be a Weirauch HW66J :cool: That would only be for "kudos" to.

Either the Timney trigger conversion for the CZ or the Brookes trigger kit are a must for the 452.
 
Shorty if I can get groups like that at 100 I'll be veeery happy. Can't wait for the snow to go up here so we can get at the range again. Only 4 months to go.:(
 
I've got B-Square rings, their Interlock adjustable rings, for 1" tubes, 11mm dovetails, model #10101 I believe. And the scope I have now is a Tasco Target/Varmint 6-24x42mm. I was/am considering getting something else, but I'm not sure what yet, and I have to be careful of how heavy it is so I can make weight for hunter class silhouette.

Yes Paul, this fine ammo is available here in Canada. Quite pricey, but will generally wring the best out of a good barrel. I use it and Lapua Midas M in my 541S & T Remingtons.(and my Sako Finnfire, my CZ452 American, my 504 Remington) Not unusual on a calm day to shoot 10 shot groups at 100 yards that are close 5/8" My 541T and one of my 541S sporters will shoot in the .2's and .3's at 50 with quality ammo. The other 541S is .3"-.4" Quality ammunition really shines at longer distances because it is so consistent. I have a 5-shot, 200 meter group that I shot with one of the 541's that is under 2" Long live the accurate 22's. To stay on topic, I do love my CZ. Very respectable accuracy and not really expensive to buy. Regards, Eagleye.
 
CZ is the best kept secret of all rimfires. Will out perform rifles at two and three times the price. I own a cz 452 varmint in .17hmr and would never give it up. If you ever want to sell it, they keep their value pretty good too!
 
Went back to the range to day, second time with the rifle, first two groups of the day sitting down at 25 meters, open sights, no rests, winchester dynasomething bulk ammo (this ammo & CCI std. also does well in the Buckmarks). Black circle 1" diameter, rings 1" apart.

My point is if someone with all of ~40 rounds of .22 rifle shooting can produce this result, its a good rifle.

Next will be the brooks trigger kit as recommended by CGNers. (which spring?).

I see from the manual that the CZ452 has an adjustment for trigger weight and for creep as well. Have not seen any real reference to the effectiveness of these adjustments. Or do most of you just go for the Brooks kit right off?
I will check this out to see how much it does for me but it is a novelty to have rifle with an adjustable trigger for me. Sweet! I dont think I will ever regret buying this rifle to say the least. Got mine from a dealer here in Vancouver and had choice. They already had a leftie American on order and it came in a few days after I asked about it and had looked at some stock in the store of the Lux and American.
