The nickel plating on CZs...how durable is that?

Could one of the SP-01 series be sandblasted and nickel plated and would that stand up well?

They aren't stainless steel under the black polycoat by any chance, are they?

I ask because I can think of someone who wants a new 9mm...but they want it to be all steel, and preferably shiny.

Some of you know who this has got to be of course...anyway I think one of the SP01 series would be a great gun to have, but metal-looking finishes are strongly preferred...

And if I was going to lay out a thousand bucks for a present gun for someone I'd like them to be really wowed by it.

Any thoughts?

Under the polycoat is not stainless steel, but for some reason don't seem heard any report rust problem happened on CZ guns. My 75B has factory satin nickel finish and is very very tough, but turn slighty yellowish after several years. I remember some gunsmith offer chrome plating and to be a better choice over polished looking nickel. Chrome won't yellowish.

Hard chrome (on guns) is a duller, flatter gray finish (slightly darker than bead blasted stainless). The nickle to use is 'electroless nickel' plating, it's virtually the same hardness as chrome, but slightly brighter, and smoother. I'd describe the finish you want to your 'smith, he'll give you the best advice based on his suppliers.

I have a polished stainless 9mm cz75 b... shiniest gun I've ever seen! :D

I'm pretty sure it's polished stainless and not plated...but I heard .40 version is plated tho... Is this true?
