OK if you were to buy a nother gun out of these two guns which one would you pick and why and in what cal

Personally, I would go with the Glock 17 - cheap to shoot, and good value for the money. I have not shot the CZ a whole lot, but I find that it doesn't fit my hand as well as the glock...plus, extra mags are cheap for the glock (relatively). CZ is a good gun as well, but Glocks do seem to be quite reliable (I am not a real Glock lover - I prefer the 1911, but given what I have seen at the club lately, I am inclined to agree that Glocks function very well). Just my 2 cents...

I'd take a CZ 75 sp-01 over a Glock (for target shooting and plinking)

If Glock would change the grip angle and come out with a stainless slide model I'll give another thought....

Go to your gun shop and pick up both guns and see how they feel then make your choice. They are both good guns so pick the one that fits best in your hand.

The SP01 is a sweet CZ (Night Sights, Rail and $700'ish?... what's not to love).
The Glock 17 if you don't get the SP01.

:)

I have both the cz-sp01 and the glock 17.
I prefer the glock.I find the cz a bit heavy in the front but that can be a plus for follow up shots :)

Well JB I think it would depend on your intended purpose.

First off for calibre I would choose 9mm vs 40 or 45. Mostly because its cheap to shoot and easy to shoot. To get the best value and flexibility out of the other two calibers you would want to consider reloading IMHO.

If your interested in competing in IPSC then a CZ or a Glock would be a reasonable call, both have their advantages and disadvantages.

A Glock is easy to get going with and there are several tweaks you can do for shooting in in production division. But many dont like the feel of a Glock, they would prefer a straight backstrap.

A CZ would also be a good gun for starting in production division in IPSC and there are also addons that are allowed for those guns too. The only disadvantage IMHO is the DOA first shot, a stock CZ has a nasty DA trigger and without some work it makes for a tough first shot.

While I am thinking about it, the CZ 75 SP-01 is a great gun, but if IPSC is what you have in mind I would wait a few weeks to see the ruling from the IPSC world body on if its going to be allowed in production or not. You may be better off with a CZ75 or 85 over the SP-01. There is something about holding a gun made of steel that is much more enjoyable than holding a gun made of plastic :)

I do own a G17 and a CZ 75 SP-01 and I enjoy them both, and I would gladly recommend either of them as they are both great to shoot. IMHO the CZ needs some work and I want to change the sights on it, and once I get a holster for it I will be trying it in IPSC.

Now if your not shooting IPSC and just want one for target shooting, well its going to come down to your personal preference but I dont think you would be unhappy either one, heck I would give yourself a treat and get both! :)

Buckshot

I have both the CZ 75 and a Glock 22. I have smaller hands and like the feel of the CZ over the Glock... except for the longer double action pull on the first round.

It took me a while to get used to the Glock but the consistent trigger pull is great for IDPA etc.

I have heard of some Glock slide rails cracking though. That shouldn't be a problem with the all steel CZ.

If I were to sell onw I would probably sell the CZ and get am 1911.

someone on teh other thread said that they're not allowed. Does anyone know for sure :?:

SP01

the CZ SP01 is TEMPORARILY approved until Jan 1/06................the official ruling is going to be made on this gun and the Tanfoglio Stock Custom as to whether or not they are allowed in IPSC Production division at the General Assembly which is held at the beginning of World Shoot in Ecuador starting in about a weeks time.............anyone considering buying one for Production should definitely wait until the ruling is decided at that time

These, G17 & CZ75, are both very large handguns but also very good handguns. I do believe you should handle both, if you can not shoot them, and opt for the one that feels best in your hand. In my case I would opt for a G22. Why? I would have a 40 S&W and with spare barrels and magazines I would also have a 9mm and 357 Sig. Just food for thought but that is what I would do. Regards, Richard :D

If I was shooting strictly factory ammo or fmj reloads I'd go with a Glock 9mm or .40 cal. If I was going to reload & use lead bullets I opt for the CZ in 9mm or .40 cal.

'Course it would be cool to have both. 8)
