CZ or Marlin .17hmr??

so my next project is too build up a heavy barrel .17hmr. i was thinking of the remy 597, but hearing mag and feed issues, not to mention that it requires lots of cleaning kinda put it out of the running. so i have been looking at the marlin 917v and the cz 452 varmint. why? well i am not a big fan of laminate stocks, or stainless and i think bolt action is the way to go. i like the fact that the cz has a very nice walnut stock and adjustable trigger, the cost isnt that crazy either(480$ @ P&D). the marlin is 250$ at SIR, but i know it isnt made the same as the cz and the stock may be birch plus i have heard it has feeding/extracting issues.....

but anyways what do you guys figure? i would like something with a decently light trigger, excellent reliability, good action and a solid feel. i plan on putting my 3200 5-15x40 scope on it aswell.

the marlin wll usaly shoot better out of the box, the stock is ugly but you can order a new one from http://www.rifle-stocks.com/
both are very reilable I have never had a problem with feeding or extraction but those who do have fixed it by tightening a screw or tighten up the back of the back of the mag. my cousin has a cz american and it wont load the last shot always but a new mag would fix it. the cz has a lighter trigger but a bit of creap. the marlin factory tigger is heavey bit i swapped out the trigger spring with one form a a papermate pen then shimmed teh side and it feels better then the cz to me you can also buy a rifle basix trigger if you wanted for $100 i think it its at wholesale. the cz is a better looking action but both perform flawlessly. the Cz is american is hardly freelaoded it touches the whole way down the stock. and my marlin will out shoot it anyday. there are few good shooting varmits that are up there with the marlins and savages, but there not as common. if you go with teh marlin Pm and ill tell you in batter deatil how to swap out the spring it take all of 4 mins.
 
Marlin 917 of course. Best .17HMR rifle for the money. I don't think the stock is ugly at all. A lot of people put a huge scope and bipod on 917 and then the gun just looks great. Some people on the forum have some complain on its magzines though.

mine is an early 917v, i cant shoot for crap but i get under 1" at 100yds./

If it is a project gun then make it a Marlin mine shoot's great, the cheaper initial price allows for more add-ons. I did have a feed issue but it was solved with pinching the rails of the mag down a bit.
