CZ pistols

The CZ Shadow is the best pistol for the money bar none.

Accurate, works every time and is accurate as hell. It beats out the SIG in that you can draw it like a 1911, cocked and locked using that superb single action trigger.

The S/A trigger is as good as a quality 1911.

For $739 at CRAFM you can't get a better pistol.

Another big CZ fan here.

But I have to agree that the Beretta and SIG have a nicer finish. Not even in the same league in fact. But I can live with that given the cost and how well the CZ fits the hand and shoots.

I like and have a Beretta 92fs. But the grip frame is on the fat side for holding well. And this is from a guy that takes large to Xlarge size gloves. So a lot of folks would find that the 92 does not index automatically into the hand. I got a holster and use the gun as a switch off for some match practicing days. But I just have not found that the gun indexes into my grip during the draw like the CZ shape.

The SIG fits the hands well but I find that the high bore axis for some reason makes it a harder gun to shoot well for me. I'll get great groups if I really concentrate but then as soon as try to shift back to a match style rapid multi shot pace the groups open up horribly. I just can't get in tune with the SIG like I can with my CZ's.

I would agree that the cosmetics of a Sig or 92FS would be better, but you are paying a premium for them. You can spend a fortune or a get a good trade off between money and reliability. You are the one paying the bills, buy something you like.

How are you paying a premium for a Beretta 92 series pistol. They can be had $700-$780 price range. Sometimes even in the high $600 range.

ECHO what he said.. It has to be the best valued 9MM out of the box hands down

Do I like SIG's and Beretta 92's sure, do I need one to shoot better than my Shadow NOPE ! Will I buy one with mad money later maybe, but for now happy as a clam.

Maybe best all metal pistol.
When you get into plastic pistols, you can not beat M&P and the glock...

CZ75 are around the $700 to $800 range as well?

What everybody else said!

If you plan to shoot any IPSC and want to shoot in production you'll soon learn the appeal of the Shadow. It's a great gun for all the reasons above, but what really makes it shine in IPSC is CZ themselves. In order to stay in production division every part on your gun has to be a production part by the manufacturer. CZ makes any part you can think of and therefore you can customize it in just about any way you want and still stay in production.

They are also a very durable gun. You may hear people talk about the slide stop breaking all the time.... it must depend on the gun. I have a spare, but never used it. I have 15-20k rounds through my Shadow and have never broken one.

You can't go wrong with a Sig and I'm not a Beretta fan, but that doesn't mean they're not a good gun. Get whatever your heart desires and then shoot the hell out of it! After that you'll know what you do and don't like about that gun and know what YOU want of of a gun and can look for that in your next purchase! After all you wouldn't want your gun to be lonely in the safe you need to bring friends home for it!

Having an SP-01, and a couple of Sigs, i can say that the CZ is about 85% of the gun the Sig is but for less $$$.

Not sure about what the OP said about the trigger
I recently tried a 75B in a shop in the US, and maybe it was broken in, but it felt very good.
DISCLAIMER: I shoot mostly milsurps.

Feel the CZ love....

This is an opinion from someone who just purchased a SP-01 Shadow last week, and shot 500 rounds through it a few hours ago. The first few points are all opinion but, it is a great handling gun, easy to point with a crisp smooth trigger, she looks ###y and I couldn't be happier with it.

Even if you disagree on those points, the build quality is superb, price point good, and accuracy out of the box could be the best out there. Best I can do for a negative so far is with the internal slide on the small side, some of you with big paws might have a hard time charging it during a pressure or timed situation. I haven't shot any other CZ models, but I would recommend a Shadow to anyone.

Had lots of fun shooting the CZ SP-01 Shadow at 25 & 50 yards out at Poco today.

124grain 9mm's shot pretty decently but would have been nice to have some 147's to compare with.

Used 115's in the pistol a while ago and found they pattern bit high at 15-25 yards.

Merp, the absolute best advice I can give you right now is: swap out the standard 18lb mainspring your Shadow came with, for a CZ 13lb mainspring. It's easy to do even if you're not mechanically inclined, it's dirt cheap to do so, and you will not believe what a difference it makes. An already good trigger right out of the box becomes an amazing trigger, and a joy to use.
There's a member here named "ceezer" who sells them- give him a PM. Somewhere in this forum I posted some pics of how to do this. Ah, found it: http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?556160-Cz-sp-01/page7

Oh, and I hope you're not storing your Shadow in that pistol case. Guns of any kind don't do well in cases with foam or fur lining, as they tend to absorb moisture and you can end up with rust.

Absolutely have to agree. Had a Sig 229, loved the look, but just couldnt get a hogh enough grip on it. CZ shadow is much better for recoil and follow up shots.

cz cons: stock finish is crap looking (but strong), the "stainless" version somehow costs more but its really just silver paint substituted for black paint.

I both agree and confirm. I own the CZ 75B. Gun shoots lights out, but not really stainless, more a case of a pretty glossy finish.

As far as function, no complaints. My 75B is about 5 years old. You will notice that the beavertail protrudes straight out from the top of the grip. In many people's opinion, the straight beavertail helps control recoil, keeping the gun down and longer on target after firing. The new CZ''s , eg, CZ 75B New Edition the beaver tail turns up slightly.

I know, this second picture also has my SAM Titan in it, ignore the SAM. This picture shows the straight beaver tail betterm which is unlike the SAM Titan, and newer CZ guns.

I really like the gun, and glad I own it.

My favorite 9mm's are CZ's...

I have 2, and both are solid. The polished stainless is my favorite gun esthetic wise, although my goto gun is the cz p07 duty. That gun feels and shoots like a pure dream. Most underrated "New" pistol out there imo.

People have different opinions on the omega trigger, but after breaking it in on the p07 it breaks like pure heaven in SA. Better even than the armco tuned 1911 I had before. The regular 75b trigger is way too long in DA for my liking and SA is only average to me but its hardly bad.

Are you sure you do not have the satin nickel pistol?

I bought a CZ Shadow because it felt right for me. I my mind set on buying a Glock until I tried the Shadow. I tried the P-226 and 92FS. The 92FS was completely wrong for me.

In the end, I buy a gun because it's comfortable for me and I can shoot it well.

I have a CZ 75B and love it. Nice trigger pull. Have put about 1000 rnds through it now and have never had a failed ejection or feed. The weight is awesome. The grip size and feel is awesome. It is a 75th anniversary special edition and the finish could be better. overall great and can't wait to get another CZ.
