CZ pistols

I have a CZ shadow and I wouldn't trade it.
CZ pistols fit my average sized hand perfectly and point very naturally.
Out of the box, the triggers are anywhere from serviceable to very good depending on the model and can be made better with little effort.
In general, the "paint" finish is OK, and the internal finish machining is generally fine.
There are a lot of CZ's in Canada, parts are generally easy to get.
At matches, I have noticed that they are extremely reliable.
I really like Sigs, they feel good in my hand but to me feel a bit clunky and the trigger on standard models is not my favorite.
Beretta's are not a good fit for me.
In my area accessories for Beretta/Sig are somewhat hard to come by.
I would give the edge to Sig in the fit/finish department but there is a premium to pay for that edge.

My favorite 9mm's are CZ's...

I have 2, and both are solid. The polished stainless is my favorite gun esthetic wise, although my goto gun is the cz p07 duty. That gun feels and shoots like a pure dream. Most underrated "New" pistol out there imo.

People have different opinions on the omega trigger, but after breaking it in on the p07 it breaks like pure heaven in SA. Better even than the armco tuned 1911 I had before. The regular 75b trigger is way too long in DA for my liking and SA is only average to me but its hardly bad.

Very nice. Contrary to what has been said by some the stainless are indeed stainless and different than the nickle versions. I like the new frame on your 75B. Love to get the brushed stainless version with the new frame. Shot the 75 Shadow in the US last year. Very nice and makes weight for IDPA. The gun doesn't have the FLDC and the light rail which is a bonus.

^I was fooling around with my CZ Shadow and CZ Combat satin nickel to make a 75 Shadow.

Nice would work well in ESP. The 75 Shadow and a well tuned 85 Combat would shoot the same. I do prefer the new style frame over the older version and the reversable mag release hence my desire for the 75 Shadow.

I have the Combat tuned so importing a 75 Shadow is not a high priority item right now. Shooting the M&P in IDPA as well. Maybe time to pull out the Combat.

I hear ya. Would love to have a 75 Shadow also but my 85 Combat will do just fine. I just love the balance of it more without the extra weight in the front end from the rail, as I'm sure you know. Definitely able to move between targets faster.

Great responses all. I think i might have to consider the shadow as my next purchase assuming I try it out at the range and like it.

My most recent is the 92fs and it fits amazing in my hand. My only complaint is the decocker/safety on the slide....if you dont grip the slide well its very easy to decock when racking.

Speaking of the brushed stainless types, anybody have and can tell us about the "Limited edition" versions that came out?

They are a brushed stainless over matte grey sandblast. I hear they are custom fit slide to frame and have tuned triggers as well.

CRAFM has what they say is the "Canadian designation" of this, simply called the 75b "new edition" http://www.crafm.com/backupcrafm/cz-page.php

I think I would give my left nut for one of those. Just a great looking pistol.

As far as I know, they are not tuned. Just the same as any other 75B model in a different finish. The model you are referring to is just called the 75B Limited edition. That whole "new edition" thing seems to be something CRAFM has named them maybe because they were just added to the CZ product catalog?

I spent some time on the range with a new Beretta 92 recently. I was thoroughly unimpressed with the ergos, trigger and accuracy. I have a couple of CZ's that I would prefer any day of the week. The Beretta design with the exposed barrel seems like a bad idea too.

I've always wondered if a Beretta could be modified to load off stripper clips. Other than that I'd have to say they do seem to be a weaker design; albeit a unique aesthetic.

Well those beretta's copied the walther p38 and the whole idea behind the exposed barrels was that it would still fire if there was a bulge in the barrel.

Bit of an obsolete idea for a modern day pistol but I always thought the old john woo beretta 92's were ###y looking.

Of course our CZ's are superior however.

I just purchased the 75B "New Edition" yesterday from one of our local shops. It was explained to me that the "Limited Edition" is identical to the "New Edition". Limited Edition is in the States, and the New Edition is the Canadian version. I cannot wait to get it out to the range as it is my first handgun, along with the new Ruger MK III Hunter stainless that will arriving very soon to my door.

Cheers

did you notice the price difference on the cz vs the beretta/sig? thats where the finish difference comes in.

cz strong points: grip fits most people very naturally, the trigger is very crisp and short for a double action, very low bore axis, natural and easy to get a very high grip on, a competition ready gun with 4 mags goes for $750

cz cons: stock finish is crap looking (but strong), the "stainless" version somehow costs more but its really just silver paint substituted for black paint.

Bias: I dont own a CZ of any sort and highly doubt I ever will (1911s!) but I do own a sig which I love but when I head out to compete it sits in the safe.

edit for clarity on what I ment about the finish

The CZ Stainless guns are stainless steel guns. I have only seen a couple up here but more in the US. They also make nickle plated and a variety that appears to be a silver like finish. Anyone who has shot a tuned SP-01 Shadow or the 75 Shadow from CZ Custom would not compare it with the Sig SRT Trigger. There is no comparison...the Sig SRT sucks big time. If the Sig was such a great pistol you would see it more in Competition...you don't. A high bore axis and a mediocre trigger hold it back.

Ah I might have to throw in my 0.2 cents if worth any. I fail to become a good shooter before my eyes getting worse, it was I prejudge, I choose and I want comfortable and small grip, it tool me several years to found out what I have done wrong. I did almost bought all the one that I want and try. Anyway I had this CZ 75B for several years and the finish hold up just like the day one, it may not look as good as Beretta or Sig, but the finish of my Beretta M9 and Ruger SR-9 is not as rock solid as my CZ's satin nickel, and even I don't own the gun anymore, I still couldn't find a better looking gun in my stable. They look cheap because of the stock grip panel and the grease on the surface, once you clean it up and replace a pair of nice wood grip, they give different statement.

And i Quote

sfbruner "The 75b and the 85 felt real clunky and cheap. The SA trigger was horrible.

The shadow was a bit more solid."

You gotta be smoing something.:onCrack:

Laugh2Laugh2Laugh2

LOL....the trigger was horrible??...LOL...compared to what??..PLEASE tell us what you are comparing it to??!!.....PLEASE tell us that you've found the "ultimate pistol" that was delivered to you by God, while you slept!...
I own a CZ75 and owned a 85 combat, and have shot several different pistols(in the last 25 plus years.) Ive shot comp with both of them (CZ's) and done very well. And IMHO, (for the money) a CZ shoots just as nice as many high priced pistols and is just as accurate in the right hands!....LMAO

.....ahhh just fun'n wi'cha, thats all.
But thats some funny sh!t right there.....
