CZ question about calibre swapping

I seem to recall that CZ had a package available a couple of years ago where you could buy a (and I'm guessing here) 455 Americal (?) and it came with a couple of different calibre barrels for swapping.
22LR and maybe a 22 Mag and a 17 HMR?

does anyone else recall that?

and if that is still available.

can we order different calibre barrels and swap them out still?

I was interested in this at the time but I had other irons in the fire then, now I remembered and now I want to go down this road.

thanks for the help.

When a factory CZ barrel is changed on a 455 or 457 it should be expected that it would require sight adjustment. The odds that it would stay on zero are not good at all.
Re siteing with every barrel change was why I decided on buying a 452 Lux. I like the switch barrel concept but use to Contenders that are swap and shot without worrying about sites being off. If you could swap barrels and sites were on target I would have the set.

IF you change barrels - ie calibers - why would you expect the sights to be 'On' ? If you have 2x, say 22LR, they would likely be pretty close But all rifles are individuals to some degree. Never had a Contender but I wonder how that works for them ?

Makes sense, too bad CZ never developed that function. With 'rears' on the receiver the fronts might be a few thou 'off' when changed to a diff barrel? At short range not a big diff but still enuf to require 're-sighting' if one is fussy - only accurate guns . . .

Different calibers are going to have different ballistic trajectories, and for the horizontal you can't expect each barrel bore to be perfectly straight and centred. If you could rotate one barrel incrementally and fire shots through a whole 360 degree revolution, it would print a circle of bullet impacts on the target. Take a barrel that has extractor slots cut, you can only install it in one orientation. Which direction it's going to shoot in is anyone's guess. Now, if one has two different barrels, the time can be spent to sight each one in and document the scope settings on the turrets. Whenever barrels are swapped, adjust the scope to the noted required settings, and the whole sight in procedure is not required again.

Tesro still sells individual barrels for around $300 - gotenda does once in awhile- I have bought a few from both companies- you do have to rezero but it’s minimal - about the same as a sako quad - but you do need to take the stock off unlike the sako

When using a scope, which is independent of the barrel, the problem of zero differences between barrels is more acute. If the barrels that are changed have front and rear iron sights on them, the problem isn't as serious because the sights are on each barrel and also because it's harder to evaluate performance differences.

As Leuchtkafer reminds shooters, the easy solution when swapping barrels is to note the settings for each one and adjust accordingly with each barrel change.

Some have said they need to sight in after a change. Might be better to get a second rifle and keep it on target. Nothing wrong with another gun!!

You usually need to to sight in with different ammo so a complete barrel and caliber swap would no doubt need re-sighting in. TC

. . . Except for the ballistic variations of the optional calibers. I'd be surprised if they were close beyond 50-yds or so. The 22LR will begin to 'fall' well before the others.

thanks for the help guys.
decided to pass my 452 down to my son and picked myself up a brand new 457 Varmint in 22LR also picked up a 22 mag miniset for it and a 17 HMR miniset on order.
may never replace the barrels as I have a real nice 22 mag and a fantastic 17 HMR already but having the minisets is kinda neat in case I ever want too.

Just a question. How much bigger is the mag rim base than a .22 lr ?? Would the 455 have a larger recess milled into the bolt face to accommodate ? Any effect on the firing pin ? Ok, couple questions.
