CZ Rifles

I picked up a 527 in 7.62x39 for the girlfriend a few years ago. On a 3 point rest, it can pop 5 holes thru a dime at 100 yards with Partizan ammo

I have a CZ527 223, a CZ452 American 22 and a pair of CZ85 pistols one 9mm the other 22lr. The first CZ was the 452 which led me to buy the others. Also I am left handed and it was real easy to get both bolt actions in leftie and the pistols are ambi. Tells me the company is thinking about everyone unlike a lot of other gun makers. Fit and finish are Euro all the way and make some of my US manuf stuff look shabby. But they all work and you are unlikely to wear out anything currently being made in your lifetime so buy what appeals to you. If it doesnt work sell it. I am coming up on 63 and wish I had bought the CZs a LONG time ago. Ya canna go wrong laddie. Easy to sell used too FWIW. Lots of folks looking for them. Keeping mine though...

L46 is what I would call Riihimaki, L461 is what I refer to as Vixen, then the A1.

All world class short action rifles, perfect. Vixen in .222rem has stole my heart.

Has the quality of all three been consistent? Not suggesting that I can plunk down the money to buy one right now. Just trying to educate myself to prepare if one comes by some day.

What is the trigger like on them? I imagine it is not a set trigger like the one found on the Sako 85 Bavarians right?

I got a reply from one of the companies I emailed saying they aren't making them in .17 Remington anymore?they're still on the cz website.I guess I might have to look for a used one. Or maybe I will be forced to order a coooper...lol.

I picked up a CZ550 Magnum five or six years ago. Excellent fit and finish and will shoot ragged holes off a bench. The action was sticky and rough when I first got it. I sat down and worked the action through a football game - problem solved.

I picked up a CZ452 a few years ago. Great fit and finish and extremely accurate.

Recently I was given a Brno Fox in 222 to use. Great fit and finish and extremely accurate.

Seems to be a pattern here.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

This a target from a day with the 452, the outside groups are all 5 shot groups the center group is a 10 shot group.

My CZ527 223 has a set trigger on it and I think the CZ453 has one too. FYI EPPS lists a CZ455 in 17 right now and you might also check Prophet as they usually carry a bunch of CZ. If they made the CZ550 in left hand action all of my rifles would be CZ no question. Except for my Martini of course...
Then again seems to me the CZ455 is interchangeable barrel so could be made into a 22 also.

oh ya...gotta love the sako palm swell! i'm sure i will be much happier with this than a CZ. I was just trying to convince myself that they didn't look that bad...lol. Really don't like the mag hanging out the bottom. No offense to the CZ guys I appreciate your input.

I had fondled that same gun about 4 years ago, feel in love once my hand hit the palm swell....and wow that action - short and ultra precise....and hot damn that trigger - breaks like an icicle.

I'd like it if you could also update us on how it shoots please, no rush but very interested.

You did the right thing, that is twice the gun and you will enjoy it twice as much. Good job!

I will post a report once i shoot it. Supposed to pick it up this weekend. I bought it from a guy I know and paid a little too much to get him to part with it...lol. But what are you going to do? I had to have it. When I pick up the Sako AV in .270win I have now it feels like it was custom built specifically for me and the Palm swell contoured just for my hand! They are amazing guns. I hope the new Sako 85 I have on order compares with these older ones. Hopefully it gets here soon, been waiting since sept.
