I mentioned it in a previous thread a while back .....they had 4 prototypes for the military to test out
7.62x39, 5.56, 6.8, 7.62x51

The ones that that get accepted are the ones that will go into production and once the military orders are filled they will start with civilian versions. If the military decides on a 7.62 Nato then there will be a civilian version of it.

Looks like a SA PE-90, an HK SL8 and a FN SCAR had a threesome. About the only thing I don't like is the fish paddle stock. They should have copied the Swiss Arms one.

We'll see how much they are. I like it though. Especially if we can get them in 7.62 calibers (x39 and x51).
 
Why are people so hot on 308 - ammo is so expensive!

I don't see how I can afford to shoot and become proficient with an action rifle in 308 format.

I just prefer shooting it over .223. Hard to explain. I guess because it's what I was taught on. Plus let's face it an AR-10 is cooler than an AR-15 :p

Agree with the 7.62x39 for plinking. If you're going to shoot it a lot then that's the way to go. .223 ammo isn't that cheap anymore.

I want a 308 so I can hunt big game with a real big game caliber. I know you can use the weaker calibers but I prefer something that never fails with a shot to the vitals. Besides I have about half a dozen 5.56 rifles don't need anymore.
 
My guess would be the 5.56 is the one they actually make. Being part of Nato pretty much rules out x39, x51 maybe (not likely) in limited production for the DMR role, and 6.8 is really only in use by certain specific role units for specific missions so general production is highly unlikely.
 
Interesting approach to a military trial though (actually kind of the way the Czechs do things anyway) provide developed prototypes in 4 calibres and say which did you prefer? I love CZ firearms, they always have little features that set them apart and let you know that a shooter was involved in the design, but you never have to give up rock solid quality.
