CZ Scorpion EVO 3 S1 FRT #'s

I have questions in to both CZ, the manufacture not CZ USA and the RCMP. I hope to be able to offer some clarification to lots of these questions next week. As always in these threads people offer opinions and they get taken as facts. With the CFC depending how a question is worded, the phase of the moon and who you ask you may get a different answer. Then when that answer is repeated it gets a different twist to it. I try and put my questions in writing but then they are often ignored which, in my opinion, tells me that the area is a grey one, not black and white.

It has been an interesting week! :) I hope to have more information here soon.

You should get one of those little digital recorders you can attach to the telephone, if they'll only give answers over the phone and not in writing. I wouldn't trust these guys at all.

When (and if) you finally get some clear answers, will you consider putting them in the OP of a new, closed, sticky thread so that people with questions can be directed there and the threads can stop being cluttered up with repeated questions and misinformation?

Oh, and thanks for all your efforts here by the way, it's much appreciated.

Hate to say; "I told you so".

But the RCMP will decide if it's a handgun or restricted rifle.

Why are you rubbing it in fenceline's face? That's kind of dickish, no? He was only going by the information that was available at the time. The info about the classifications came out later. It's not as if the info he provided was wrong at the time. Anyway, the guy was trying to be helpful. Let it go already.

Yes I think we need to review how we post threads here. Not sure on the best way right now.

Once a pistol, always a pistol, even with a 50 feet long barrel.

Its only rifle that can be switch over to NR. I am pretty sure this is covered during Pal course. At least mine did.

Strange, I am a PAL instructor and I don't remember seeing that, not saying I am right. If you can quote chapter and verse I would be grateful to see it. Thanks.

You should already know the answer...all are pistols at this point (so no NR)...check out post #27 in this thread https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/1551339-CZ-EVO-S1-Scorpion. Alludes to him needing to place an order for 250 carbines (which would still be restricted initially). But why not send them an email directly and posting their reply? That way your post doesn't get lost in the ton of other repeats...

Oh ok...so id have to read through 27 posts to supposedly get a straight answer d:h: .... and people respond faster on CGN than Emails.

Normally information on up coming firearms on CGN is pretty clear and well laid out. BUT my only way to describe how the release of the EVO on CGN is this:

Even your above comment is misleading if my understanding is finally correct now.... you say "all are pistols at this point" implying the EVO 3 S1 is impossible to convert to NR; but what I think you mean is that: what Wolverine is currently importing is the Pistol versions, and that the Carbines (which arnt currently available for sale) will be imported as R by barrel length whenever the time comes that they are imported in.

And what Wolverine is saying is that the manufacturer CZ has no intentions to produce a 18.6" version. Which means those that want a NR EVO will have to buy a "restricted by barrel length" Carbine version when they are imported in, and get a gunsmith to install an aftermarket NR barrel (once there made available).

There is apparently an effort underway to have the RCMP issue an FRT number for a 7.75" carbine that would allow eventually reclassification to NR.
