My dang nose is sniffing out these two and just curious as to the what for of them.
Which do you prefer?
The Lux I haven't handled and the Scout I had in my hands yesterday.
Sweet little gal with an incredible trigger.
Almost took her home.........almost.
What sort of price would be a good price for the Scout buying new?
Thanks for any/all replies.
I seem to be standing myself today, so toss what's on yer mind.

You too Gary........Laugh2

I just bought a Scout. Will be installing a Rifle Basix trigger. Bought it because of the accuracy potential. My target shooting uncle , who knows way too much, recommends them highly. That's good enough for me. They're going for $400 or so in Calgary.

You plan on getting them marmots or spending more time at the range? The scout apparently shoots super well, but the Lux is sure no slouch. I'd get a scout if I was going to make a target rifle out of it, or If I had smaller shooters around. The Lux is amazingly ergonomic when using the iron sights out in the field. I recently bought a Lux to go along with my Varmint.

I have both and they're both incredibly accurate. The Lux is just a beautiful rifle, I love the look of the euro-style stock and mine was made from a nice piece of walnut. I like the sights and they're super easy to adjust out to 200 yards. That said I have more fun with the Scout for plinking & partridge, it's weighs maybe 5lbs and is light and easy to take in to the bush. It just feels good to hold and shoot. I've recently ordered one of YoDave's kits for it and I'm thinking about adding a scope and using it for targets at the range - My problem is that I like it just as it is, so I may have to buy another one to scope and re stock ;)

This sure is encouraging information.
I had the chance to pull the trigger on a snap cap and I could find
nothing wrong with the trigger on this one.
Nice, light, crisp.
I didn't think it needed an upgrade of any sort.
The 513 trigger sure raised my eyebrows.
That one was competing with the lawyered Browning T-bolt.
So they running around the $400-$450 mark then?

The short length of pull on the scout kinda bugs me, but as mentioned all the reports of accuracy are quite intriguing.

I have a 513, and despite the trigger the thing is very accurate. I chose it over the scout just for the LOP, and in a hunting/plinking rifle the trigger doesn't bother me.

I really think for a bench/target rifle the Varmint is a better option though. The stock and heavy barrel are just made for that type of shooting.

I have a scout and a 452 varmint, hard to decide which shoots better. i scoped the scout and put it in a Klinsky stock, started going out to rimfire night at the club and am chasing the top shooters scores. Last night my first 4 shots prone were all 10-x :O if i didn't pull a rookie mistake and drop 2 shots onto 1 target i would have scored 99-6x.

That's in the range that I've seen them in Ontario (up here and down south) recently.

If you don't mind my asking, which scope did you go with?

I think 400-450 is what they go for around here too. Mine was 430 IIRC when I bought it last year. If you have the chance and like the style, check out the FS too. That's my favorite 452.

Set a new club record with the scout tonite, beat the old one by 3 points. this'll keep the regulars yakkin for a bit, freakishly good lookin(ok, more like freaky) guy who can shoot ok shows up for 4 nites and beats em' lol.
