Thinking about getting Shadow 2 Kadet kit for my CZ shadow 2. There is a lot of info and reviews on original CZ Kadet but not so much on Shadow 2 kadet as it is still pretty new on the market. Looking for some feedback from people using it. How does it compare in accuracy to dedicated Rimfire pistol such as Ruger mark lV or similar? How is it with cheaper bulk ammo such as federal 525 bulk packs or similar. I do understand all ups and downs of conversion kit vs dedicated Rimfire pistol so this is all about Shadow 2 Kadet kit feedback and accuracy comparison.
Thanks

I have a Shadow 1 Kadet Kit clone, Antreg Zenith 22S which is dimensionally identical to the Kadet 1 Kit fitting CZ75/85 full sized pistols. The only difference between the kits is the magazine. The Antreg Zenith uses polymer, whereas the CZ kit uses steel magazine. Both holds 10 rds. Now, the tricky part. What I've been hearing, as I do not have a Shadow 2 with Kadet Kit, if you change your hammer spring/mainspring to a lower compression rating, say from 15-lbs to 13-lbs and the recoil spring to a similar lower rating (I am not sure of what is factory installed with the gun) you might have misfires as I have multiple of them in both SP01 Shawdoline and 85 Combat. By swapping back the original springs, the misfires I have has gone down to maybe less than 3% of the total round count. Likely ammo related as .22 ammo is notorious for misfires and even sometimes no fire at all. I found Federal 525 and Federal Automatch good. Very few misfires. But surprisingly, Federal/CCI Standard Velocity performs very well. Maybe 1% misfires and groups tighter @ 20m. I find a dedicated Rimfire like Ruger MkIV more accurate than conversion kits. Remember, conversion kits are designed to fit all intended variants. Manufacturing variances might require professional gunsmith service. My kit required minor rotary tool grinding before I was able to fit the slide into the frame. There are tons of information on CZ 75/85 including Shadow 1 & 2. Google it and see what makes sense. Remember, if your are not sure of what to do next, ask the people who knows CZ pistols. We have a few GURUS here who knows CZ 75/85 very well.

The CZ Shadow 2 kit uses a fixed barrel and light alloy slide. Accuracy should be ok, you will likely need high velocity ammo to ensure reliable cycling.
We just received some of the Antreg Shadow 2 conversion units, which we will have posted soon. They are more expensive than the CZ kits, but they are all steel and use the Colt floating chamber system to cycle. That makes them more closer in weight and recoil impulse to the centrefire guns, but they need to be kept clean to cycle reliably.
Our opinion is that if you want reliability, the purpose built guns are usually a little more reliable. If you want accuracy, the higher end target guns are the goal. Most quality conversion kits offer the same accuracy as the lower end rimfire pistols.

Hi Ambishooter. Thanks for the info
Shadow 2 kit doesn’t need to be fitted like steel CZ Kadets. It’s made specifically for shadow 2 frame.

Any conversion kit that is not fitted, is likely to be loose and less accurate. The Antreg CZ 75 Zenith kits have pads on the frame rails and barrel lug that should be carefully filed to fit. This will minimize barrel movement of the fixed barrel. The floating chamber kits (Orion, and Phoenix) should not require any fitting as the slides cycle freely under recoil. They are as a consequence not quite as accurate (but still as accurate as the original gun)

I just picked one up a couple months ago, I think it's an awesome little kit. It's my first .22 pistol so I can't speak to it's accuracy vs others, but it can ring steel at 50 meters with boring regularity. It does have occasional failures to fire with cheaper ammo, but chews through nicer stuff like CCI Standard Velocity.

I've been messing with mine recently and even standard ammo runs very well through it, although I did use some higher velocity loads for the first couple of hundred. Does anyone know if there are any readily available Shadow 2 Kadet mags around? I've not yet seen them for sale outside of the actual kit.

I tried my shadow 2 kit yesterday for the first time. It didn’t like federal bulk pack (525packs) at all. Light strikes at least one out of each magazine. Then tried lead nose Remington and wildcat and no issues at all. Anyone uses federal bulk packs having light strikes? Or any other ammo?
