So I picked up a Shadow 2 from Firearms Outlet Canada as a Christmas present for myself. After I brought it home and looked through the case I noticed there was no extended safety in the box. I called the store the next day and the guy who answered said that they no longer come with the extended safety and that have been dealing with upset customers since the change, and also advised they would be receiving some safetys in the new year to sell. I have no reason not to believe them but after talking to some shooters and looking online, there isn't much to back up what FOC has told me.

I'm curious if anyone else has run into this situation and what they did/where to find more information.

Thanks guys.

When I brought home my Shadow 2 I noticed that there was no extended safety. I went back to my LGS the next day and talked to the same guy on the counter. He hauled out the remaining Shadow 2's and every case that was previously opened did not have the extended safety's. The first case that we came across that was not previously opened had one so I scooped it. That tells me that someone scooped the one in the cause that belonged to my pistol as well as opened some of the other cases and helped themselves to those as well.

How does it compare to the ones on the CZ website?

http://cz-usa.com/product/cz-shadow-2/

the Youtube video there suggests both slim and extended ambi safety's are included (mentioned at the end of the video).

Hey your right! The guy on the phone said to find some evidence that it's still sold with both. He told me no one advertises it coming with both anymore. Do you think this is enough?

Yes they’re no longer including the extended safety and they no longer come with CZ mags they come with MegGar mags. CZ has always been famous for changing things the guns come with or changing the gun itself in order to keep the gun at the same price point.

I knew about the magazines but I didn't think they would exclude an item that (for me) was a big selling feature. I'm going to email cz-USA and see if I can get anymore information.

They stopped coming with them a while back, some dealers likely got a mix of old and newer stock hence finding the odd box with one. Not sure what a distributor in another country (CZ-USA) could offer of value to guns imported into Canada by another distributor.

Are the MecGar mags they’re coming with the 10/17 ones with the blue followers? Personally I don’t care about the extended safety, the slimmer the better for me and my grip. Don’t see the point of it on an IPSC Production gun anyways.

They have the blue followers but are only the 10 round kind

Shadow 2 is a very popular IPSC Production Gun. And no one I know that shoots the Shadow 2 in Production, me included, uses the the extended safety. Rarely does anyone even use the safety. My extended safeties are sitting in their original cases.

As far as mags go, the Mecgar mags are a superior mag to the factory ones I received with my 2 early edition Shadow 2’s.

So I would have no issues with either of these changes if it means maintaining the same or an improved price point for the S2. And lately i note the Shadow 2’s have been selling for a lower price than I paid a year ago.

My guess is CZ recognized not many were using their extended safeties and preferred Mecgar over their original factory mags and changes would lower the price and make the gun that more attractive to clients.

The S2 has not been coming with the extended safety since about June into Canada. As Chilidip mentioned, not sure what an importer in another country (CZUSA) would do to help.

I got mine a month ago from western metal, came with extended safety in the box, bag of spacers, manual and even a CD (haven't checked that out yet)

Thanks for the information guys! I guess that's why they've been marked down everywhere eh. The only reason I wanted it is because I'm switching over from classic division to production and the safety feels kind of like a 1911.
