Bought one and it shoots great with the original iron sights.
I added a Vortex Venom Red Dot with the appropriate CZ plate and cannot get a zero. The red dot is cranked all the way to the right and upper and still shooting low and left.
I thought it might be the optic so sent it to Vortex and they gave me a new one. Same problem and with the optic cranked all the way like that front sight is at the edge of the optic and just plain weird to shoot without some kind of co-witness.

So here's the question. Is the adapter plate or the rear slide badly machined and how do you get it into spec or just send the whole pistol back to CZ?

Could it possibly be trigger control? I don’t know how long You have been shooting handguns, or if You are right or left handed, but I’ve seen a few people shoot low left and its almost always been trigger control. Just my $.02.

If it shoots great with the irons and off with the optic I don’t think poor trigger control alone will be the cause of the issue. There is some getting used to with the dot but what the OP is describing sounds pretty extreme.

Been shooting handguns since the 1970's and have done many comps with Bullseye, IPSC and CDP. Trying to establish what's wrong with it.

A guy at my range was sighting in his browning buckmark with a vortex venom at 25M, he ran out of elevation, was hitting a foot low, didn't follow up with him as to what the cause was.

I can spray a 12" group with my utg red dot at 25M using my browning buckmark.

Is there a "ghost dot" that you're trying to zero. Some red dots can have a faint shadow usually out of the typical adjustment range. Try resetting the optic's adjustment range by counting total clicks /2 to get rough rest. See if it's the correct dot your zeroing for.

Conversely try mounting it to something else. Many dots come with a pic rail attachment, throw it on a railed rifle and see if it can be zeroed.

Are you using the Docter red dot plate? Which screws did you use to attach the red dot? The screws labelled Glock MOS?

The brand of the sight has nothing to do with it, Is this a milled slide or a add on mount in place of the back sight.
On my Canik, it was almost deal on with the Vortex centered, that was a milled slide with the plate,
My 1911 uses a plate in the slot in place of rear sight. It was shooting low, neat end of range, So I used a small piece of pop can tin and slid under the rear of the plate, and I am almost dead on at center of the range .
Loosen the sight and shim the plate, and hold pressure to try to get the windage over.

have you checked the plate to make sure its square and such? it should have came with screws specific for the Venom also

I was reviewing some of the Vortex videos on their You Tube channel. Please have a look at this video and go to the 7:17sec part of this video. https://youtu.be/ehvsr81xhH0 .He explains what can be done if you run out of adjustments. Not sure if it will assist. Also have you been able to try another manufacturers optic just to see if you can get a proper zero . Hope you figure it out. Good luck.

This sounds like your optic screws are to long you have to cut down all four screws for proper mounting.
I install these professionally and this has to be done with all shadow and venom combos.

EHG any update. Did you try another brand on your gun.
Yes, I have a Holosun and plate enroute. Should be here next week.

News to me this has to be done. I don't see how it can fix windage, but I'm willing to learn. The plate measures square and sits perfectly on the slide. The optic also sits flat and square on the plate. I could take a pic of both sides if you want.

I installed my screws unprofessionally, no cutting required.

After confirming the plate and screws I don't know what to tell you OP.

Please keep us updated.
