CZ Shadow 2 Questions

Hello,

New handgun owner here. Bought a CZ Shadow 2 back in February. With all these covid restrictions, I was finally able to get out to an outdoor range. Love the gun! The trigger and accuracy are impressive!

But I do have a couple of questions. After the range and doing a field strip of the gun for cleaning. I noticed that the slide stop has some rust on the inside surface facing the gun. Has anyone with a CZ encountered this before? Would a warranty centre possibly warranty this item?

It’s a new gun and I live in Alberta. Dry climate. Gun has been stored in a pelican gun case and oiled from day one. Only a couple hundred rounds through it just recently. I use Ballistoll universal oil with a patch for cleaning. Bore snake for the bore. Once that has been wiped away I then apply clenzoil to the recommended lubrication points as per a Cajun gun works parts diagram I found online.

Second thing that caught my eye. There is a red or burgundy coating on the trigger spring. At first I thought this might be rust too. But it’s not rust. It’s covering about 60% of the spring and it does come off after rubbing it with a qtip. Has anyone seen this before? I don’t think it’s as big of a deal since it is coming off and it does not seem to be rust. Just curious as to what caused this.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

The trigger spring coating is very likely a lubricant....from the factory.

I wouldn't worry about the slide stop....brush it off and go on about your day....or buy another one (those are a good part to have a backup for anyways)

You want a backup slide stop for this pistol. That's the "weak" spot for this pistol. I have over 6000 rounds through mine and never a problem, but other members of the "Shadow 2 owners society" have told me this is a good part to have in your bag in case. I wouldn't worry about the rust but just wipe it down and apply a bit more lube there if necessary (not lots - just a little).

I replace mine every 20k
