CZ Shadow 2 Upgrade

I received my parts from the IPSC Store today. They were shipped on the 28th of October which is pretty good shipping time from Estonia. I compared the lengths of the new Stainless Guide Rod and the one that comes with the Shadow 2 and both were exactly the same. The recoil spring that I ordered is 5mm longer then the recoil spring that was shipped with the Shadow 2. Also an issue presented itself when I decided to change the spring to the new spring. I used the new stainless steel guide rod and longer spring. After installing it and racking the slide all seem to work properly, However, when I went to remove the slide, I couldn't get it off. I even tapped it with my hammer to no avail. I thought that somehow I made a big mistake. So I then turned the pistol upside down and was able to get the slide 3/4 the way off. I had to reach in with a small screw drive and depress the guide rod in order to get the slide all the way off. So I thought what gives, why should I have this problem. The only difference that I could see was that the new spring was 5mm longer and that shouldn't have been an issue. I then got out the spare parts that came with the Shadow 2 and discovered there is two different sizes of buffers. I replaced the standard wider buffer that I used, with one of the shorter (half the size) buffers and all worked well. Also the little nipple on the new stainless guide rod is tapered while the standard one is not.

Thanks for the heads up. My parts came in last week from the IPSC store. I'm just waiting for black/blue Shadow2s to come in. I'm hearing not till next year by one store. So much for Christmas present to myself. :p

my head hurts
unless the shockbuff was damaged it had nothing to do with the gun not coming apart. As for the new spring being longer, well yes, it hasn't been sitting in the gun. My new springs are longer before I install them too. Typically, lighter springs are made from thinner wire and are longer, there are exceptions to that rule, but that's the norm.
The thin buffers will wear out quicker, but that's not a big deal.
Slidestops are running in the 14-15k range right now.

You think your head hurts, this particular situation doesn't make sense. I checked the buffer and couldn't find anything wrong with it. The mystery continues.

Why change something that isn't broken. The only thing that I did was install an 11.5 lb hammer spring and RPFP spring which brought the DA trigger pull down to a nice smooth 6.5 lbs, SA is down to 2 1/2 lbs.

Do you run an extended firing pin? Any problems with the RPFP spring?

So not ipsc legal.
I don't know if it is ipsc legal or not. I always thought that springs were not an issue as long as the DA trigger pull is not lower than 5 lbs. There is no way that springs can be enforced to be ipsc legal or not. That is just ridiculous. If this is not something that is made up or a bunch of rubbish, please explain how this is enforced? I know that a lot of competitors use these springs for their shadows, and I have NEVER heard of anybody being kicked out of production division because they had a light main spring.

If asked, the trick is to say that the mainspring is the spring that came with the gun. Spring weights and origin are impossible to enforce....so the only problem you have is if you admit to using aftermarket parts.

Wow, I honestly never thought it applied to springs. Everyone that shoots a shadow has their springs reduced. It just makes the gun shoot nicer. It does not give anyone a tactical advantage that I can see. My DA trigger pull went from 8-9 lbs down to 6.5 lbs. Not that big of a deal. Rules or laws that can't be enforced should not be rules. How can anyone as an RO justifiably kick someone out of production division because he hears over conversation that someone had changed their spring, while everyone else, including him shoots with a reduced main spring? I don't get it......

Ok, I get it now! Springs, what springs?????

CZ used to sell 11lb hammer springs, but for some reason don't anymore. I purchased a bunch from them at the Greece world shoot and again when I was at the factory that year. Those springs have seen a lot of use but still read at 10.5lbs. I run the 11.5lb in my practice guns and an 8.5lb in my Steel Challenge gun (only Federal primers with that one). Zero issue with CCI, Federal, Winchester and Remington primers. With Dominion I get maybe a couple light strikes per 100, normally go off on the second hit.
Waiting on 8lb factory recoil springs right now. I wanted to see what would happen so Installed 2 thick buffers into my 2, no issue shooting, no issue locking back on empty, no issue taking apart. So in went 3, no locking back, gun ran fine and came apart fine. 3 thick and 2 thin, same thing.
