So,what do you think of his group at 12 yards?

I thought it was pretty good:)

He's been practicing with his Glock .22LR,for awhile now.

He's been asking to try the 9,so after a few single shot mags,I let him try a few full mags.

Big mistake!
Now he wants a 9mm slide for his Glock.
Combat master,at that :)

And I got to share my ammo:(

He 11, and been shooting for a couple of yrs now.
Only .22, but he's just starting with 9mm.

I'll probably wait a while longer ,before he gets his own Glock 9 slide.

What does it look like with his .22?

While I think it's great to start them young, and it's awesome you are letting him shoot some center-fire, I wouldn't be in a rush to graduate him to center-fire just yet.

His .22 group is about the same, but I find the Glock .22 LR isn't the most accurate.22.

I do agree ,that he's not 100% ready for venter fire ,just yet.

My CZ is much heavier than his Glock,as well.

I explained, that I could make some lighter reloads(mouse farts) lol
He said he was fine using what I already have.

I'll let him try mine for awhile longer, maybe pick up a Glock slide, next summer.

In that vein, if handling the recoil proves to be a problem/distraction for him, please be sure to change his grip asap. If his grip actually had his support hand doing some real work, instead of "going along for the ride" like in the pic, he may enjoy it more.

We aren't there though. :)

That pic was for show:)

I had him firmly grip the pistol with his right hand and a firmer grip with his support hand.

its not that he couldn't handle the recoil, but it was kinda surprising ???him though.

Also the CZ was quite heavier than his Glock.

Anyway,no rush, he'll get there.

And he loves shooting,we go to the range, two, three times a week.

My grandson (11) recently shot a 3" 9mm group at 7 yards. I was very impressed but he said he was not trying very hard.

I suspect the kids have much better vision and sight pictures than we old farts do.
