Hey all,
So I'm a lefty and my grip on my CZ Shadow was right where the bulky safety is on the shadow, so was hurting my left thumb every time.

I bought the CZ thin safeties, they're sold by CZCustom and IPSCstore.
These are the same safeties installed on the CZ Shadowline.

Here are a few things I didn't know (and wish I'd known beforehand),
And might help you if you want to do this:

1- The 2 separate sides of the safeties as received didn't mate at all together...
I tried obviously unsuccessfully to install the new safeties because they wouldn't mate....
You actually have to file down the long side (left side) of the safeties quite a bit to mate it to the right side....
This very dangerous because if you file it just a bit too much then well it won't be safe, and will be loose
So you have to be extremely careful not to file too much, check, file again until it mates but solidly.... I was lucky ;)

2- The safeties do not come painted.....
They were sort of a SIG226 kind of grey.....
That looked fugly, and did not match the Shadow's black at all.... so you actually have to paint these....
I used krylon black flat paint, color match is perfect, but not sure it's going to hold up.

3- If you intend on doing this after the purchase of a Shadow, Do it as soon as you get the firearm.
The old safeties left some faint marks that weren't visible because the old safeties are a lot bigger,
Now well you can kind of see them and bugs me a bit, and... the factory paint job on the frame behind the safeties is so so....
If you look at the picture of the left side if you look at the top you can see it's missing some paint.... obviously this was covered by old safety.

4- The new safeties leave a tiny gap in the safety hole looking at the top side (towards the hammer)
That was disappointing, so I went and looked online at pics of the Shadowline, yup same little gap....
Really???? :)

So that's about it, I'm happy of the results but wish I'd know this info beforehand.
Here's the video I found that's most helpful in disassembling the Shadow,
Great guy, and he also has a super video outlining IPSC Production legal upgrades you can do on the Shadow

Cheers from Montreal and Happy Easter to all! :)

Thank you for the informed write up. I had at one time considered this for the same reason as yourself - my hand was actually rocking the safety slightly on, making for a bad trigger pull.

In the end I found I shot much better with a slightly lower grip on the gun.

I did have an adventure installing a competition hammer in my 85combat, however...

My pleasure :)
Competition hammer I imagine that must have been something too. :)

I tried with the lower grip, but couldn't get constant with it my hand wanting to ride higher.
This looks to be a perfect fit for me (since I'm lefty and have small hands), can't wait to go try it out. :)

F.B.

Weird, all my safeties match my guns without paint. Hit them with oil and clean them up, and they are identical in color.
