What would be the best way to go about lightening the DA trigger pull on a CZ shadow? I would like to get it somewhere around 5 lbs.

if you shoot IPSC and intend to stay Production legal, 13lb factory replacement mainspring will get you closer.

You'll have to ensure that your hammer strikes have enough juice to ignite the primers in the ammo you intend to use.
I haven't personally had an issue with any ammo I've used, but have heard stories.

right on. thanks. yeah i have heard of ignition being an issue with the lighter mainsrpings. i am thinking if i use Federal primers i will be fine.

FYI... reducing DA to 5lb will reduce SA lb as well. If you get a Kadet conversion kit you will have major light strikes even in DA, 50+% of the time.

I don't think you will be able to get it down to 5 lbs. It'll definitely feel a lot lighter with the 13 lb mainspring, but just don't expect to get near 5. 7 to 10 lbs more likely but even so, the DA pull on these guns is generally pretty smooth and if you're handy with tools, a little careful polishing on the correct surfaces (polishing....not removing) and you really won't care that it's not 5 lbs.

thanks a lot guys. all the info is greatly appreciated. i suppose you can say im a pussy for wanting a lighter pull, and ill accept that. i am used to shooting 1911's so its just a huge ajustment for me.

Me too, but the Shadow trigger is pretty easy to adapt to. And anyway, you only have to pull DA once per stage (IPSC?).

yep only once! i am looking for more consistency between DA and SA pulls. i know this is impossible with a DA gun, but i can hope and try.

Even if you do find that you are getting light strikes on occasion you can pu tin an extended firing pin.

I have a 13# mainspring in my Shadow and I have never had an issue with it. I have used several different factory ammos and used different primers on home loads. never had an issue.

Simply replacing factory main spring with 13# one should get you to 8# to 8.5# DA pull.
One has to do some polishing and such to get it to 5.5# (to be safe during match trigger tests). Also, at that point, one needs to switch to Fed. primers for 100% ignition.

Another way to deal with that first heavy DA pull is to take up most of it during the draw/presentation sequence. You'd be surprised how minimal and light the remaining pull is at full extension. Accepting the sight picture and finishing the pull, on the other hand, is the next challenge.
Still working on it.

With an extended firing pin do you know if the gun would still be IPSC production legal?
