Hi, is it really needed to see a gunsmith to install a competing hammer on a shadow 1 ? Do you have to polish or adjust sometime or its just to push the pin and reinstall everything ?

Not too hard to do yourself but the pins on the hammer assembly can be a royal b*tch to remove and insert. There shouldn't be any fitting required but it's always a risk.

I just replaced my Shadow 2 hammer for a competition one last week. The strut and disco pins are staked into place and you need a taper pin punch (could try a regular pin punch but risk breaking it) and a hammer to give it a few solid wacks to pop them free. Use a good block to support the assembly like a hockey puck with a small hole drilled in it to allow you to drift the pin.

I lightly polished the sear edges with a stone 'cause it felt very very lightly gritty.

That said, I've read of a couple instances where it wasn't a drop-in fit but for the majority, it seems like it was.

Good stuff. Did you get the thin or wide hammer? I noticed I got a little more inertia on the firing pin than the factory Shadow 2 hammer.

Got the standard one, still waiting for the 13-11 spring. Polishing the slide help a lot for the slide drop on mag insert.
