CZ Shadow ready position in Production.... Hammer is...

I can attest to the pinch method being a risky one.

my one and only trip to IPSC Dairy Queen has been due to lack of focus combined with the pinch.
Put a nice hole in one of the props used at Brant.
It was my only shot fired that day.
Learned a tonne from that one round.

Thumb roll is what I use now (as well as ensuring I get enough sleep the night before!!)

no, I just DQ for doing something I don't like.............

ok, I'm kidding, yes I've DQd people for the slip up resulting in the Negligent Discharge/Accidental Discharge of their gun. Not because I don't like the way they do it. Although, man, that would be fun......................

I was experimenting and found with both methods if I maintain a light but steady upward pressure on the safety with the thumb of the hand holding the grip of the pistol at about the hammer half way down mark the safety engages.
This may prevent a NG on the bottom half of the hammer's travel.
