My new Shadow & Kadet Kit arrived yesterday :) and I managed to get it all cleaned up. (That thing was mucky!)

I had to fit the Kadet Kit to the shadow frame, but that really only consisted of a tad of filing of the Kit's 5mm-ish front rail portion.

I noticed something odd before storing it.

When the pistol is in the half-#### position, I can engage the safety. Like fully cocked, the engaged safety prevents a trigger pull as you would expect. I don't recall trying this before I disassembled it or fitted the kit.

I'm pretty sure the manual says it won't engage unless fully cocked. I'm not sure this is a problem, or it's indicative of a potentially bigger problem. I'm not all that dependent on the safety in general, myself. But, it would be a real downer to have to ship this thing out again, being my first (and only) pistol. :(

Any thoughts?

It's not supposed to engage if the hammer isn't fully cocked is my understanding. However, since day one, my safety will engage no matter what position the hammer is in. If the hammer is down (or half cocked) and the safety is on, the trigger will only pull the hammer so far, not enough to drop it and fire the pistol. The safety therefore functions properly no matter the position of the hammer.

Hasn't bothered me. Maybe 7000 through it this year without a problem.

Thanks Contondant. That's kind of the answer I was hoping for from other Shadow owners.

Don't have a Kadet mounted to my Shadow, but my safety engages on half and full ####. Has been like this since day one.

Speaking of which, how does that Kadet kit work on your Shadow? I've had some vague thoughts of doing that myself, but I still have this Ruger 22/45 that's been annoying me forever that I don't want to get rid of just yet.

Well... it sure looks purdy! Actually, as it's my first, I'm waiting for the ATT application to go through my club yet. It really kind of sucks that I've had a club membership for about 3 months and can't go shooting !!

I'll be sure to give a super-nubie range report on both.

i have 2 Shadow, 1 would engage in all position and stops the trigger from going.
The 2nd one would only engage when in half or full ####.
